This south side SLC staple is sweet as simple syrup and revving up to make a mean comeback. The older homes and walkable neighborhoods of Sugar House are a veritable melting pot of Utah peeps from every walk of life. Yes, this spot's got more diversity than Lady Liberty could shake a jolly green fist at.

Just to the north of downtown, you’ll happen across one of Salt Lake’s oldest, most charming, character-rich neighborhoods: the Marmalade District. Loosely bordered by Quince Street on the west and Columbus Street on the east, the streets have names like Apricot, Almond, and Quince—a nod to the fruit trees planted by the pioneer homesteaders who first inhabited the neighborhood.

Lively Downtown centers on Temple Square, with its soaring, castle-like Salt Lake Temple and the Mormon Tabernacle, an auditorium known as the home of the renowned Tabernacle Choir. The area has plentiful farm-to-table restaurants and global eateries, along with wine bars and Irish pubs. The open-air City Creek Center mall has upscale shops while ballet, opera and Broadway shows are staged at the Capitol Theatre.

As Salt Lake’s first actual neighborhood, the Aves is packed with as much history as an Antiques Roadshow marathon. Streets A through U feature homes from Victorians to remodels and been-fixed-uppers, and the equal parts spooky and captivating Salt Lake City Cemetery rests eternally on 2nd.
