Sightseeing

While there's much more to discover and see, this is a short list of our personal favorites. First time visitors might surely want to visit the forbidden city. Pls note that most of the royal tombs (and forbidden city) have entrance fees. There also are combi-tickets available.
There's several royal tombs around Hue. This is the most remote, most natural and least visited. A bit more challenging to find but well with the extra effort

A bunker hill from war times its now an abandoned, easy accessible pine forest with awesome views of the Perfume River and Hues hinterland. Good to squeeze in for a pitstop along the way towards the royal tombs

My second favorite tomb. On the way to Vong Canh Hill and Gia Long tomb. Lots of greenery and lakes. If you come at the right time there might even be a traditional music performance

The largest tomb, with lakes and forests. Can be reached nicely by boat from Thien Mu pagoda (happy to arrange) and combined with visiting other places on the way back. Since its one of the more famous royal tombs, it might get crowded at times.

Just a five minute walk from your place. It hosts the most beautiful Koi's and is especially beautiful in the evening when all the masses are gone and the monks come out to play some soccer. You can get a boat from there and ride to Minh Mang.

beach time!

No-one knows about Hue's beaches, and that's exactly why they're so awesome! They've not yet been overrun but are incredibly beautiful. Beach Bar Hue is the perfect place for a lazy day where you'll have the beautiful (and clean!) beach almost all to yourself. As it's part of a local hotel they'll charge you an entrance fee - but will offer you for & drink vouchers for the same amount. On the way back you could pass by a famous local restaurant by the name of Thuy Trieu Quan and enjoy the sunset over Hue's Tam Giang Lagoon from your own private bamboo hut over the water

Food scene

Food is everywhere in Vietnam and Hue is particularly famous for its diversefood culture, influenced from both north and south Vietnam, its royal past as well as through French colonial times. We just listed our personal favorites and must go places. But you surely should miss our on having at least one of Hues famous Bun Bo Hue noodle soups!
The best vegetarian restaurant in Hue, potentially in all of Vietnam! Set in a sideroad, nestled in a beautiful local traditional house with its own temple, its not only the food which is unique, but also the setting. Must try!

Far outside the city this place is particularly interesting if you're on your way home from the beach bar. Its set mostly in small bamboo huts directly over Tam Giang lagoons water and offers a wide choice of tasty and fair prices seafood dishes. Come for the sunsets! Stay for the food and cold beers :)

Something very special very close to your home! Just head down the road for grilled meat with greens, peanuts and noodles or the same wrapped in wet rice cakes. A wonderful light snack during the day which is difficult to be found in other places. Due to its fame, Huyen Anh restaurant has three outlets, try to find the one in the backroad - way quiteter than the others

Rather far, Duyen Anh restaurant is worth the ride if you're a big seafood fan. It's by far the best seafood restaurant in town. Its outdoor seating next to its own organic garden is great, and you're also able to choose your food from a bilingual menu or a live display. Quality comes at a price. It's the best but also the most expensive seafood restaurant in Hue

交通アクセス

Grab & Taxis

There's GrabBike motorbike drivers and several taxi companies all around town. They're all relying on meter and neither cheating nor bargaining is common. Taxi hotlines don't speak English, but if you manage to provide them with your street name, a taxi driver will come around after confirming with you. We recommend Thanh Cong Taxi: 02343575757 For motorbikes just get the Grab App, you can chose departure and arrival, pay in cash or through the app. Be prepared that drivers get picky when it rains, waiting times can be exponentially longer. We can also help you to rent well maintained and fully fueled good quality motorbikes for fair prices or a private driver with car..

Hue's Climate

Hue has two major seasons. A (very!) hot season from April to August and a (very!) rainy season from October to December. The rainy season might result in severe flooding, up to a point where not all roads will be accessible.
