Discovery Green is in located in the heart of downtown. You can walk to it from our house as long as you are prepared to take a 20 minute walking tour of downtown which we love to do! There is always something going on at Discovery Green such as the recent free concerts during Final Four, to movie nights on the lawn, to festivals of all sorts.

Eleanor Tinsley Park is less than a five minute walk from our place. The landscaping here is breathtaking with picture perfect views of the downtown skyline. We love jogging here, taking walks, renting bikes, renting canoes to take down the Bayou, and picnicking here. The trails go several miles down Allen Parkway; you can stop for breakfast at the Dunlavy or at night, watch the bats take flight along the Waugh bridge.

This is the original location for Barnaby's restaurants. Very cozy seating inside. While small, it is big in taste! Fresh squeezed orange juice, green eggs and ham is a popular option. The service is great; the waitstaff will make you feel at home.

The museum district is home to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts (HMFA), Contemporary Arts Museum, Children's Museum, The Holocaust Museum, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The museums are in walking distance of each other with the Houston Zoo at Hermann Park right there as well! From our house, ditch the car and parking prices, and walk to the rail line for a quick zip to the Museum District.
