Food Scene

Great flavor if you're really into a good cup of coffee. Love the espresso they use and a great cappuccino. The Dank Banana bread is a sure thing to satisfy!

If you like Rice pudding this is the place to go with at least 32 flavors and then some- you won't find your typical ice cream flavors here. A must experience at least once..... there's also Serendipity uptown for a frozen hot chocolate, or Dylan's Candy shop to satiate the kid in a candy store craze!

Drinks & Nightlife

This is a quaint cafe wine bar great for morning, day or night scene. The place is inviting and warm and surprisingly cozy where you feel at home sitting on the cozy couch for brunch or a pre/post dinner drink. Dinner is great here too... relaxed vibe great for a date or getting together with friends.

Truth be told, having a 2 year old has put me out of the loop for the hottest places to go these days but.... La Esquina is an impressive restaurant cantina with a secret entrance that sure to impress any 1st timer. You do need a reservation in advance so be sure to go to opentable.com and make one a day in advance. You can always bar hop the neighborhood from there.... Epistrophy Cafe is top on my list for something chill, but there's also the Spring Lounge (aka the shark bar) which is an iconic dive bar since the 1920's known for it's celebrity visitors such as the late James Gandolfini. If you want to see a not to miss part of history, hit up, McSorley’s, the oldest bar in NYC.

A downtown oasis equivalent to Central Park. A five minute ferry ride away and you're wished to another space away from the city hustle and bustle. It's peaceful open space to run and explore with various features a plenty for the whole family. Playgrounds, three story high slide, splash pads for the little ones and mountaintops to climb, forts to explore, biking paths to ride or scooter. Pack a picnic and enjoy the view, but if you forgot your lunch, there are vendors with great bites to eat too!

Arts & Culture

All along the East side of Central Park (which is a work of Art in it's own right and a must see!) there are Art Galleries and museums. At the top of my list is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There is something for almost everyone. I love the serenity of the sculpture garden, and especially the Diana sculpture holding her bow and arrow. A little know secret. Admission is suggested which means you can pay whatever you can afford. If that's only a quarter than that's completely fine. Everyone has access to see amazing art.

Shopping

Iconic Macy's on 34th Street. A must see.... especially around Christmas time. There's a plethora of shopping to do in the whole area with various shops and with Korea Town nearby, a must is Korean BBQ at Shilla's 37 W 32nd St, New York, NY 10001- open late night too! Try a Kareoke bar afterward to extend the fun!

Essentials

Closest grocery store with everything you need (always a bit pricer but it's got the goods) If you need something quick late night however you can always run down to our corner Deli open pretty much 24 hours or the 24 hour Duane Reade down the street on Spring and Lafayette for and needs.
