History
The Walworth area has seen street trading since the 16th century, when farmers rested their livestock on Walworth Common before continuing on to the city.
During the Industrial Revolution, stalls lined the entire length of Walworth Road.
East Street market has been officially running since 1880.

MISC Selection - ALL SORTS. With food options from beers in bars, hot food stalls Gelato to cheese and wine. Borough market is set right next to London Bridge, and has the most beautiful architecture as well as live entertainment during the day. Open Mon - Thur : 10am to 5pm Friday: 10am - 6pm and Saturday: 8am - 5pm . Check it out and compare it to East street market.

(15min walk) It has many food options and a good vibe, Perfect for a group if you are unsure of what you would like to eat or cannot agree on one type of meal.

45 Southwark StMISC Selection - ALL SORTS. This is my regular for work, good mix of food options, outdoor seating, beers and different forms of entertainment depending on the time of year. Good place to again start before moving on into the city for a night out or attending some local sights for drinks and a dance.
Italian Food. Place opens up at 12 - 3.45 then 5 - 10pm. They take bookings for standing in line, but if you get to Borough Market at 11. grab a coffee and line up at 11.30 you will be in and seated by 12.15. This place does pasta well. Warning on the wine selection might pay to research what types of reds and whites you like as this place is popular so you may need to wait if you want to change your wine choice. The specials are always good and its nice to take a stroll down Southbank after eating here.

Its right and airy vibe makes for a good place to hide from the winter weather. Weekdays are less crazy than the weekends. opens 10am - 5pm. Open late on a Friday: 8.30pm. Check out their website for any late night events.

Its right and airy vibe makes for a good place to hide from the winter weather. Weekdays are less crazy than the weekends. opens 10am - 5pm. Open late on a Friday: 8.30pm. Check out their website for any late night events.

Good place to shelter from the cold and to get a taste for the modern and obscure. A really good gift shop here for London theme presents.

Elephant & Castle is Zone 1 (Zone 1 & 2 Capped day rate)
There is a daily cap for using tube stations between zone 1 & 2. If you can walk to a zone 2 station OR you are coming in from Zone 3,4 ,5 pr 6. If you get off at Kennington station (that is zone 2) Or go to Elephant (Zone 1) the fare for the tube is different. Walking from Elephant & Castle can be cheaper for transport costs.
