Scenic Drive - along the Sonoma Coast. From Santa Rosa, go west on Highway 12 until you reach 116. The Russian River finds its outlet in the tiny town of Jenner. If you drive further north along the PCH, you can enjoy alternating redwood forests and dramatic cliff edges.

Scenic Drive - along the Sonoma Coast. From Santa Rosa, go west on Highway 12 until you reach 116. The Russian River finds its outlet in the tiny town of Jenner. If you drive further north along the PCH, you can enjoy alternating redwood forests and dramatic cliff edges.
Scenic Drive - The Valley of the Moon. From downtown, go east on 4th Street until you hit Highway 12 east. You can take this route down all the way through the small communities of Glen Ellen and Kenwood until you hit Sonoma. You'll be surrounded by green rolling hills and majestic mountains the entire way. Explore Sonoma's town square, taste samples at the Cheese Factory; lunch w/locals at the Sunshine Cafe, the Red Grape, or Girl & the Fig. See the old Mission, and maybe visit Jack London State Park (and the author's old house) on the way back to Santa Rosa...

My favorite part of the Santa Rosa Creek Trail is the section that runs down through Downtown and the old Historic Railroad Square. Very nice pathways for peaceful walking or biking during the day.
