American style breakfast place: omelettes, bacon, toasts, French fries, sandwiches, coffee, tea, etc.
We enjoy going there when we have time for a relaxed breakfast. The French fries are particularly good, and the milk tea made with fresh milk is one of the best in Taiwan.
Last but not least, the owner is a very friendly Taiwanese lady who speaks good English.

It is a serious budget for Taiwan (1,500 TWD) but it opens you the door to delicate flavors you never tasted before!
There is no menu, just let the chef know if there is anything you don't eat, and he will prepare your sushis just in front of you.
There are always a few grilled dishes and dessert in addition to the sushis. We always wrap up very full.
Note that the place can only accommodate about 10 customers at the same time, better to call in advance to book.

If there was just one restaurant to visit in Taipei, it would be this one. Every dish is of the highest quality, and there is a very large choice. And though it is fine dining grade, the price stays very reasonable (expect about 500 TWD/person) !
Our favorite are :
- Steamed dumplings (小籠包 - there is soup inside, and all dumplings around Taipei are compared to those ones)
- Chicken broth (雞湯)
- Fried rice (炒飯 - Nicole could spend hours telling you how perfect it is)
- Dumplings in the chili sauce (紅油抄手)
Finish with the mini sesame buns (迷你芝麻包) if you like to finish with a sweet taste!
Tip 1: Here is the original DinTaiFung restaurant. There are a few other branches around Taipei, but we feel like the original restaurant offers the highest quality.
Tip 2: It is possible to book in advance in week days. If you don't have a reservation or if you are going in week-ends, the waiting time is usually for about half an hour (longer waiting time to expect in other branches).
Tip 3: The dishes are usually shared between all the participants around the table. A larger group will allow you to try more of their excellent dishes!

Din Tai Fung Xinyi Restaurant
194號 Section 2, Xinyi RdIf there was just one restaurant to visit in Taipei, it would be this one. Every dish is of the highest quality, and there is a very large choice. And though it is fine dining grade, the price stays very reasonable (expect about 500 TWD/person) !
Our favorite are :
- Steamed dumplings (小籠包 - there is soup inside, and all dumplings around Taipei are compared to those ones)

In summer, they also have great cold brew coffee (冰滴咖啡）which you need to order one day in advance.
The shop also gets cocoa and other drinks. The price is also good, cheaper than Starbucks for much better quality.
