Sightseeing
The East Race trail is a nice trail that runs along the St. Joseph river. In the summer there is rafting the man-made rapids. Very close to downtown South Bend.

Be sure to check out the inside of the Basilica during your visit. Get your photo taken with "Touch Down Jesus". Catch great views of the University from the 13th floor of the library. Visit the iconic grotto which is a good place for quiet reflection. If you can, catch a sporting event while you're in town. Football, basketball and hockey as the major draws, but the Irish normally field competitive Lacrosse, baseball, and volleyball teams, too. You might also be interested in visiting the Debartolo Performing Arts Center for music, film, or theater events.

Great Farmer's Market where area farmers offer their produce, but it also has a good little restaurant that is packed every Saturday. My suggestion is the Uncle Ben's pretzel dog and a lemonade.
