Fun, comfortable "basement" venue and bar. With a restaurant upstairs. I had been there years ago before Liberty and wasn't impressed with either of them. BUT, the new owners have transformed this basement into a very, very cool space. Worthwhile just to take a look. And get a chance to listen to some really great local musicians.

Parks & Nature
One of my favorites parks in Rhinebeck is "Poet's Walk" a beautiful park bordering on the Hudson River. The views of the Hudson are stunning. Long, meandering paths leading down to the Hudson RiverAnd dogs are welcome! The Gazebo at the top of the hill provides really great views.

For a extra special treat go to "UpState Films" one of the few independent movie houses left in America. You'll find them tucked away on Route 9 next to the "Starr Building". They always have two or three great movies playing as well as special events. And they cost a lot less then the big movie houses.

One of the few independent book sellers in this country! They have a wide range of books on just about any topic you can imagine. They also have a wonderful children's section in the back.

"Winter Sun-Summer Moon" is a fantastic little shop ran by my friend Lila. You'll have to stay there for a good couple of minutes just to see all the incredible little gifts Lila has brought back from her world travels.

Getting Around
Metro North is the commuter train into and out of Manhattan. It's last stop is Poughkeepsie. About 30 minutes from our house.
