Undoubtedly one of the best eateries for outdoor eating in the city bowl. The little garden has front-row seats for a view of Table Mountain, making it family friendly too. Some dishes are better than others, but do try the slow-roasted lamb salad.

Warm and cosy Bombay Bicycle Club is one of the permanent homes of the creators of Madame Zingara. (Others in the stable are Kloof-street neighbour Café Paradiso as well as Sidewalk Café in Vredehoek and Café Mozart in the city bowl). This spot has bohemian décor and boasts the warm, friendly service for which the group is known. The food is hearty and delicious; try the pork belly or the Cajun calamari.
