Ellijay is most famous for its apple orchards. It is considered the "Apple Capital" of Georgia. Ellijay holds the "Georgia Apple Festival" every year in October. While being known for it's apples, there are also plenty of breathtaking nature scenes as well as vineyards aplenty. Downtown Ellijay is like a scene from an old movie: brick buildings full of small town shoppes and restaurants line the streets and live music can be found on almost every corner. A small slice of "mom and pop shop" heaven in a time where it seems "big business" is every where.

During the Christmas season, it is decked out with thousands of lights, has Santa visit in the middle of the town square, and has horse drawn carriage rides. Helen is known for it's south-German style architecture. It is exactly like a Bavarian alpine town, but instead of being from the Alps...it's situated on the Appalachians. Of course, they hold "Octoberfest" every year from September through November.
