Sightseeing

Come visit one of the top 10 public universities in the U.S. With a drive less than 10 minutes away, you can see the impeccable architecture on the UC San Diego campus. Most notable mentions are the Geisel Library (open to the public!) and the Fallen Star (a small cottage home perched at the top of Jacobs Engineering Hall). For a parking tip, I recommend parking at Gliderport as it is free! I suggest wearing comfortable shoes since the walk can be long.

You will not regret stopping by for a day. Very picturesque! Highly recommend checking out the Japanese Friendship Garden (lots of koi fish!).

Neighborhoods

A romantic, festive neighborhood with international restaurants, pizzerias, art galleries, boutique hotels, wineries, gift shops, occasional live music by a fountain, and much more! I always recommend this place to all of my friends who have traveled from a different city or country. Highly recommend Landini's Pizzeria, Little Italy Food Hall, Salt & Straw, and Bobboi Natural Gelato. As a side note, parking is extremely limited in Little Italy so I suggest parking near residential homes and walking to the location. 5-10 minute walk at most.

Time travel back to the mid-19 century and walk around the historical beginnings of California. Old Town is a historic site that has preserved the Mexican-American history and culture. The neighborhood is filled with vibrant shops, restaurants, and museums. I suggest visiting Old Town during the weekdays to avoid large crowds. There are parking lots and residential parking around this neighborhood. Also, I recommend bringing sunglasses and a hat!
