Great Italian restaurant on the lake with lake views. This is another restaurant popular with locals. You may see the occasional celebrity here also. PS. I would recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

Wolf Lodge started out as a convenience store in 1939 and turned into one of the areas best destinations for an amazing tamarack fire grilled steak in the 1970's. Just a quick 10 minute drive down HWY 90, this is a unique and unforgettable experience. Advance RESERVATIONS ARE ALWAYS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is a little more upscale and intimate bar that also serves small plates. Outside seating available (with headlamps and igloos during winter months). Wonderful place to experience out famous North Idaho sunset.

Very scenic breakfast or lunch on the Spokane River. It is usually very busy, so do expect a wait (especially on Sundays).

Sightseeing

This is a great hike almost anytime of year. In the summer, mornings are great and the sunset can be absolutely amazing. The main trail goes around along the water, but there is also a fire trail and a summit trail (it can get very hot in the summer, so do bring a water bottle). There are some great little side trails to beaches where you can enjoy the Lake Life. I personally walk Tubbs Hill 2 to 3 days a week all year around (winter can be very icy, so Yaktrax are advised). It's about a 30 to 45 minute walk straight through, but you may want to grab a bite at The Bouy Bar & Grill, walk by the Military Memorial and/or spend some time in McEuen Park.

Mineral Ridge is a short 15/20 minute drive down HWY 90. This hike is more demanding than walking Tubbs Hill. The hike is about a 3 mile loop. First half is UPHILL through the woods with some of the best views of Lake Coeur d'Alene on top. There are benches along the trail to sit and relax or just breathe the fresh North Idaho air. The other half is all down hill (please wear appropriate shoes AND bring water in summer months). This trail in the Fall, Winter and Spring can be very cold, windy and muddy. Dress warm (lots of snow in winter so do be careful).

A short drive down Coeur d'Alene Lake Drive. Absolutely amazing between November and February when the migrating bald eagles are here to feed on the spawning kokanee salmon. Watch them dive into the lake for their next meal. From the parking area, you can walk the trail to Higgins Point (along HWY 90, so it can get a bit noisy, but definitely worth a visit). Great views of the lake all year!

Take a cruise any time of year. A lake cruise, evening cruise, cruise the St. Joe River or the bald eagle cruise in winter (dress VERY warm for this one). The lake and mountain view are amazing. Some of the mansions on the lake are fun to see also.

Just a few blocks form the house, walk along Sherman Avenue and do a little window shopping. Stop in one of the art galleries, clothing shops, get some candy or an ice cream. Pop in one of the many great coffee shops and relax. Many wonderful places to eat. Don't hesitate to gander and explore some of the places along some of the side streets (4th, 5th and 6th Street). Coeur d'Alene is a wonderful place, use this time to reward yourself and recharge.
