National trust owned with beautiful extensive grounds. Good coffee and cake in the cafe and the walled garden is worth the visit. For a longer walk take the woodland trail for some really old and interesting trees and views over the Herefordshire countryside.

Hay on Wye is the book capital of the UK and hosts the Hay Festival yearly. Visit here to mooch around the book shops, have a stroll by the river and grab a bite to eat at one of the lovely cafes. For the more adventurous, you could even hire a canoe from one of the many companies and paddle down the river on a sunny afternoon.
