In winter check to see if you need chains

Be prepared for snow! Buy chains before you get here
Be prepared pack your snow chains if necessary. Chains can be purchased at the bottom of the mountain at most auto supply store like Auto zone or Napa. It's a good idea to have gloves handy to put on chains. Note at the pull stops you can usually hire someone to put on chains maybe $20/$30. Be sure to get the right size specific to your tires. If your driving a 4WD or all wheel drive you are required to carry chains but not required to put them on your vehicle.

Safety items for snow travelers
1st time snow traveler? or just a regular that needs a reminder of good to have items when traveling to the snow. Gloves packed on top of your bag, have a snow scraper handy to clean windshield, carry a shovel in the car (never know when you might have to dig your self out), cat litter (a good way to melt the snow & or give your tires traction) & extra weight helps when driving in snow. Snow can cause all kinds of delays, make sure your traveling with a full tank of gas, if you filled the radiator with only water it is time to upgrade to mostly radiator fluid (it won't freeze).

Phone reception
Not all phone services are created equal so you may experience bad reception on the mountain or spotty connections while exploring. I don't have experience with all phone services but Att & Verizon work great at the house. Some devices can be set up for wifi calling and text messaging sometimes and texting even works when your not getting the best phone reception. One trick I have learn is the colder it is the better the reception, so maybe just step outside and you will get better reception.
