Newton Food Centre

one of Singapore's more famous hawker centres, newly renovated Newton Food Centre is popular with tourists and office workers who work nearby. Home to seafood eateries and iconic hawkers like Kwee Heng and Hup Kee fried oyster omelette, the centre's rich hawker history stretches back as far as the 1950s. While some may find the occasional food tout off-putting, it’s probably the only food centre where you can call ahead to reserve a table with your regular go-to seafood stall and have them attend to you.

Lau Pa Sat (Chinese: 老巴刹), also known as Telok Ayer Market (Malay: Pasar Telok Ayer; Chinese: 直落亚逸巴刹), is a historic building located within the Downtown Core in the Central Area of Singapore. It is currently a food centre. There are several shops inside the market such as a 24 hours Cheers Store, a shoe repair shop, a tailor and a laundry store. In the evenings on the weekend a live band plays at the stage in the middle of the market.
