Embark on an immersive farm-to-table cooking experience with me, the head chef at Calma, where you’ll learn hands-on culinary techniques and savor dishes that blend Brazilian tradition with global inspiration. • Begin with a refreshing welcome drink as you settle into the beautiful seaside setting. I’ll share a little about Calma’s story and philosophy and how we work with locally sourced ingredients to craft bold yet delicate flavors. • Select fresh herbs and produce from the restaurant’s private garden. I’ll explain their origin and seasonality, highlighting the importance of sustainability, terroir, and conscious consumption. • Using the ingredients you chose, prepare one of Calma’s signature dishes under my guidance before we gather around a communal table to enjoy it. You'll share, appreciate, and indulge in the vibrant flavors of the meal, and leave with new knowledge of sustainable gastronomy connecting the land, sea, and plate.

Taste Rio’s flavors with an artisanal ice cream maker

I’m excited to welcome you to Sorvetiño, my ice cream shop in the iconic Copacabana neighborhood, where I’ll be bringing back the distinct flavors of our “Love Letter to Rio” Collection for this experience. • We’ll begin with a blind taste test of four unique carioca ice cream flavors, each inspired by a classic beverage from the city: mate with lemon, guaravita, caipirinha, and passionfruit batida. • After taking your guesses for each sample, I’ll reveal the flavors, and we’ll enjoy shots of the original drinks that inspired the frozen treats. Guests under 18 can participate, and instead of the alcoholic flavors, they will receive an extra portion of the two non-alcoholic options. At the end of the experience, you’ll choose your favorite flavor to take home with you, along with a Sorvetiño sticker and poster.

I’ll detail the cultural significance and artisanal processes behind each sip. • Learn to appreciate the subtle distinctions between fruit-based bubblies and vermouths, identifying how Brazilian ingredients lend depth and character to every sip. • Finally, we’ll dive into the national spirit—cachaça. You’ll taste pure and aged versions, learning about traditional distillation and how the unique woods of Brazil impart distinctive color, flavor, and aroma. You’ll leave with a renewed understanding of Brazil’s artisanal drinks and unforgettable memories of a true island escape. And you will have the opportunitie to bring some with you to your place and keep this memories alive for ever! Or, at least until last the bottle you take. Mix custom cocktails with a food critic

Join me for a guided walk through the Feira da Glória, one of Rio’s most vibrant open-air markets. As you explore the bustling stalls, I’ll help you select seasonal fruits, native herbs, & rare ingredients, sharing their history, cultural significance, and how they shape the world of Brazilian mixology. Then we’ll go to a bar where you’ll experience the artistry of one of Rio’s most innovative bartenders. • We’ll begin our 90-minute journey by meeting at the entrance to the Feira da Glória market for an overview of Brazil’s cocktail traditions and the importance of fresh, seasonal ingredients. • Next, we’ll take a guided walk through the market’s stalls, sampling fruits like carambola and taperebá, while learning about their cultural & role in Brazilian mixology. Together, the group will select fruits & botanicals to turn into a custom cocktail. •Next, we’ll walk to Surubar and Jurema on historic Morais e Vale Street for a glimpse into modern Brazilian cocktails. Master bartender Igor Renovato will transform carefully selected ingredients into a signature cocktail. • You’ll end the afternoon with a private tasting session. You’ll learn how to use fresh ingredients at home during a free-flowing discussion. In this experience, we will pick you up from your home* and take you to get to know the most important points of the city. We will begin immediately by visiting Christ the Redeemer (ticket included), to avoid queues and take the best photos; then the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, an artistic area with its exclusive tram and then the Selarón Staircase, one of Rio's most famous sights. From there we will go to the Metropolitan Cathedral, a unique building in downtown Rio. Afterwards, we visited Maracana Stadium from outside. We stop for lunch** * right after. After lunch we go to visit the Parque Lage. Parque Lage is a historic and cultural park located at the base of Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. While it is an independent site with its own history and attractions, Parque Lage is part of the Tijuca National Park, a vast protected area that includes one of the world’s largest urban rainforests. At the end you have two options: we can take you back home or drop you off at Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf) (ticket not included), where you can take a cable car up to the top of this magnificent hill. *Pick up and drop off in some areas of Rio's south zone. This delicious introduction to food and drinks from around Brazil is unlike any other. Over the course of 4-5 hours, we'll eat and drink our way across the most interesting parts of Rio that most visitors never get to see. We'll start in one of Rio's bustling street markets, where we'll taste exotic fruits and street food dishes. After that, we'll head to my favorite Brazilian-Portuguese restaurant in Lapa for a taste of old-school Brazil, where the waiters dress in white jackets, and serve the most delicious salt cod croquettes in town. From there, we'll wander into Centro, the oldest part of the city to visit a secret foodie hotspot, a hole-in-the-wall serving classic boteco snacks (think Brazilian tapas). We’ll then take a short ride to Flamengo, where we'll taste the uniquely delicious regional dishes, first from Northeastern Brazil and finally from the Amazon. IMPORTANT: There is a different meeting point each day of the week and the Airbnb app is not able to handle this, so we will give you detailed information on how to get to the meeting point in a message after you book. ALSO: We generally do NOT serve feijoada or the rodizio style churrasco (all you can eat barbecue). But we can help you find the very best of both!

Cachaça Tour Paraty/ English

The Cachaça Tour Paraty is a journey through time with cachaça as the protagonist and its importance in the history of Brazil. The walking tour through the historic center of Paraty starts in front of Matriz Church(Our Lady of Remedies) where we start visiting 5 cachaçarias where we will tell the history of cachaça since the arrival of sugar in Brazil, how cachaça is made , the right way to drink, curiosities and, of course, tasting cachaça and liqueurs in each one of them, as well as discounts on the purchase of bottles and the famous Jorge Amado drink. Paraty, which for a long time was synonymous with cachaça, is now an international gastronomic hub, so tips from the most diverse restaurants for all tastes will be presented on the tour. The aim of the cachaça tour is to bring another story of our history while enjoying all the flavors that Paraty has to offer.

Faremos uma aula de culinária onde você aprenderá a fazer uma moqueca de peixe baiana - prato típico brasileiro que é peixe com molho e utilizaremos azeite de dendê, pimentão, coentro, pimenta e outros ingredientes exóticos da culinária brasileira. Antes mostrarei como fazer uma deliciosa caipirinha de limão com todos os truques brasileiros na minha casa no alto de uma rua sem saída, um cantinho especial do Rio e ao som da nossa MPB (música popular brasileira). Subiremos as escadas para o terraço com uma vista deslumbrante da Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, Corcovado e montanhas e aproveitaremos o entardecer enquanto o nosso peixe estará curtindo no tempero. Descendo para a cozinha, faremos a moqueca de peixe e uma farofa (comida tradicional brasileira de origem indígena feita com farinha de mandioca). O Brasil é um país multifacetado assim como sua culinária que é cheia de sabores, cores e odores. Quando estiver pronta, jantaremos todos na sala de jantar com vinho branco ou rosé da América do Sul. This is an walking tour experience through the Historical Center of Rio de Janeiro, discovering cafes hidden in narrow streets and commercial buildings! Rio de Janeiro is a city with an incredible architectural variety that hides small 18th century churches and incredible local cafes that only those who live and work in the region know. The coffees are included in all stops of our tour. All the coffees on our discovery and tasting route are organically produced on Brazilian farms by local producers. This is a tour for all the coffee lovers around the world!

What we'll do: I welcome you in an absolutely unique setting in my colonial villa on the edge of Santa Teresa. Coming to my place will already be an experience by itself. After your arrival I offer you a little snack and some drinks to refresh yourself while giving you a short introduction to the influences that shaped Brazilian cuisine and an overview of what we will prepare. Then we jump into our course and learn the most important thing: how to make Caipirinha (I have 20+y experience!). Next we prepare our dishes listening to Samba or other beautiful Brazilian music. Once everything is ready we enjoy our food in our beautiful winter garden surrounded by tropical vibes.
