We are 5 minutes from the eastern shore of Lake Superior and stunning sandy beaches, and directly across from Harry McCluskie Marina in Michipicoten River Village. 3 waterfalls are less than 5 minutes away;the largest can be viewed from the house. We are in a dark sky preserve so star gazing can be added to your list of activities; hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, climbing, kayaking or just relaxing on the veranda with your feet up,watching the boats come in or listening to the loons on the bay.
The house has been completely renovated and decorated, top to bottom. We included everything that would make our guests feel like they are staying in a loved home and not an impersonal rented space.
Most of our bed linens are from West Elm and most towels are Egyptian cotton.
Higher end shampoo, conditioner, lotions and body wash are available for guest use.
The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking necessities including utensils, a variety of pans, pots, flatware, dishes, glasses, small appliances and of course a cooktop , wall oven, microwave, electric toaster, dishwasher and fridge.
A popular and eclectic variety of tea, coffee, snacks, pop and carbonated flavoured water are plentiful and restocked daily for guests.
We do offer, free, a queen air bed in the event you may be a party of five. Just let us know ahead of time and it will be set up for you.
Guests have the run of the house and we encourage you to enjoy the natural beauty surrounding our property. Feel free to use the trekking poles graciously donated by lovely guests who wanted future guests to be able to use them on the many hiking trails in Lake Superior Park.
Our neighbourhood is a small village where people walk more than they drive, everyone says hello, and anyone is made welcome. Crime is non existent, wildlife abounds, beaches are free and so are helpful directions and tips from locals.
The marina is a 5 minute walk down the road. If you would like to get off the beaten path, take the Michipicoten River path and walk along the river once highly trafficked by voyageurs, fur traders and Ojibwa and Cree.
