We'll visit the downtown are of Lisbon, the neighborhoods called Baixa and Chiado, which have been the meeting point of famous artists, poets and politicians since the XVIII century and are still considered to be the beating heart of Lisbon with its imposing buildings, shops, restaurants and historical monuments.
You'll learn a bit more about the modern and contemporary history of Portugal, the Great Earthquake in 1755, the end of Portuguese monarchy, the change of the capital to a foreign country, the Jewish massacre, the longest dictatorship in Europe and the revolution that ended it, the tradition of the "bacalhau" and many aspects of the Portuguese culture.
