My cabin is a timber frame barn of 800sf with one bedroom and bath (400sf) attached. You will have my bedroom, with private entrance, and private bath. I will sleep in the great room and use the toilet/sink in the shop. Location is very private, view is wonderful, terrain is a steep oak woodland good for hiking. I am off the grid and have some interesting infrastructure (solar electric, solar thermal space heating, salvaged materials). There are many wineries nearby. Ukiah and Hopland are both 20 minutes; Boonville/Anderson Valley is about 50 minutes, as is Healdsburg. I am happy to provide as much information on the area as I can. You pretty much need a car to get here.
Since you will be sleeping in my room in my bed only those possessing a high level of consciousness and respect need apply.

You are welcome to hang out in the great room, read, listen to music, watch tv, as you like, but note that I will be there as well. You may heat food, make toast, etc. but I do not want you to plan on cooking.

I will be found in the great room. I will try to respect your privacy and give you your space best I can. I welcome the interaction but if you want to be alone that is fine. You are the "customer".

Shoes off inside. limited kitchen and internet access. I would prefer that people bring prepared food or plan to dine out. I will make you breakfast and I have coffee and tea.
Check-in is flexible but I expect an eta (by phone) so that I can plan my day. Unless agreed upon in advance plan to arrive at least before sunset because I am difficult to find in the dark.
Having good communication skills (and a willingness to use them) will go a long way toward ingratiating me.

Jeff was a wonderful host and made the whole experience very easy and comfortable. In my opinion he went above and beyond what we expected by setting the table to prepare for the dinner we were picking up in town (take out after a long day) and entertaining our son by showing him some of his old toy cars from when he was a kid. The next morning he prepared a wonderful breakfast for us...it was the perfect way to start the day! It was wonderful getting to know Jeff and some of the history behind his unique mountain top home. We would definitely stay again and recommend this heavenly spot to anyone who also enjoys the spectacular views of nature and quiet simplicity!

Although Jef was good at communication we are unable to review the stay as we were unable to locate it.

Oh this was just the perfect weekend getaway. Like another reviewer said, this does feel like your own private mountaintop! Jeff's a superb host and if you're around on a Friday, ask to join the weekly neighborhood BBQ - it'll make for one highly entertaining evening! Don't worry if the pictures don't look that great - the views are breathtaking.

Jeff was very welcoming and friendly. He was eager to make us feel comfortable and even went out of his way to come up with the names of nearby wineries. The room was immaculate and comfortable and the views are phenomenal--it's like having your own private mountain top.

Jeff, our host, was gracious and warm; he made our visit a positive experience. He made dinner for us since we couldn't bear to drive to Ukiah about 30 minutes away. The home is secluded in the mountains at 2000 feet. Cozy and inviting for sure. A true get-away.

Wow, what a view! The property is even more beautiful than it appears in the photos. We felt very comfortable throughout our stay. The directions to the property are key - don't trust your GPS! Jeff was very hospitable and understanding when our arrival was delayed. Had a wonderful time. Will be recommending it to my friends!

Jeff's private park getaway is truly that: A spacious Mendocino mountain top with a meadow and a 5-star view -- and an outdoor claw-foot tub where you can enjoy it all while soaking stress away. It's a very "down home" kind of place, with lovely architectural interiors in a natural setting. Jeff is a generous and gracious host, non-intrusive, yet engaging and helpful. I stayed September 12 and 13, 2013, on my way to nearby Orr Hot Springs, and will definitely come back again for a longer stay. Jeff offers his master suite and private bath, complete with one of Fort Bragg's famously comfortable FloBeds, silky cotton sheets and down comforter. I had one of the most quiet and deeply relaxing night's sleep ever. I woke up the next morning bathed in golden light -- with panoramic views of Mendocino's mountains and wine country right from the bed! After watching deer munching away in the meadow and listening to songbirds as an alarm clock, I reluctantly got out of the snugly FloBed cocoon: I decided to abandon my schedule and just enjoy. Jeff invited me to breakfast, and his sunny kitchen and dining table -- with those same expansive views -- completed a perfect morning. I look forward to exploring the area on my next trip, as Jeff's 30 acre+ mountain is one of the area's major geological landmarks, complete with mountain goats. Although remote and quiet, the property is located just 20 minutes from Highway 101, either from Ukiah or Hopland. I had just visited Hopland's Real Goods sustainable living model and store, and was looking for the McNab road that leads to Jeff's off-the-beaten path top-of-the-mountain getaway, but didn't see a highway sign from 101. Do watch the odometer! And follow Jeff's excellent instructions as you wind your way, up and away. Ukiah has three excellent wineries: Parducci, Fife and Germain-Robin, plus the famous Vichy Hot Springs Resort. I'm partial to Orr Hot Springs, which is just 40 minutes away. I also like to put together picnic and supplies at the well-stocked and friendly Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op, or have a meal at Oco Time, Patrona, or the Himalayan Cafe. My micro-brew loving friends are partial to the Ukiah Brewing Company, while I love their organic vegan and raw stuff -- to balance Schat's Courthouse Bakery & Cafe where I can happily destroy any ideas of sustainability, diet or otherwise! For anyone who loves the Highway 101 Doorway to the Redwoods, the hassle-free and affordable northern wine country, and the rugged, beautiful Mendocino-Humboldt coast -- with hiking and hot springs nearby -- Jeff's private park getaway is a special place to spend several days unwinding ... and his easy winding road to the hilltop, with herds of deer along the way, is well worth the 20 minute drive.

I am a bay area native that moved to Ukiah in 2007. I live off grid on 31 acres two hours from S.F. My hobbies include woodworking, cooking, and hiking. All caught up on my "tree huggin", I currently seek out urban activities.
