Dad's House is a comfy home that has a cabin-like feel. Tucked away in the Shenandoah valley, our 305 acre property is a quiet, remote, and relaxing area that looks over the blue ridge mountains and hills. As you can see in the pictures the kitchen, living room-dining room area, and the valley-view porch are in an open arrangement and the lodge and master bedroom are 20 feet down the hall. Downstairs is a clean working basement with an attached double-twin bedroom and concrete porch.
Dad's House is immediately comforting. Our guests say they can breathe here. We believe it's a great place for a single-person to find solitude and inspiration, a couple to find sacred time together, and a family to find memories together that will last.
You'll be able to access the whole upstairs, the washer and dryer, and the basement if your family needs the space.
If you need other places to sleep we have a fold-up cot. And also available for children are crib, pack-n-play, toddler bed, highchair and booster seat.
Kitchen has toaster, coffee-maker, microwave, dishes, utensils, kitchen linens, dishwasher, refrigerator and stove.
Dad's House also comes with TV, VCR/DVD player, cassette player, radio, all bed and bath linens, iron and ironing board, central heat/AC, gas fireplace, gas grill, and WI-FI. In the home we also have cards, books, board games and movies for VCR/DVD. On the land we have horse shoes and a campfire site.
On our 305 acres, we also have hiking trails through wooded areas, a calming creek that runs through the woods, and beautiful views. In fact, our favorite spot on our land is called Hill Beautiful. It's breathtaking.
Free local calls. Long distance calls by phone credit card only.
We've been doing this for awhile so we understand that this time is for you and we don't want to disturb that. We do, however, live next-door so if you need anything at all, please do not hesitate to knock on the door, text or call if you need anything. We want to make your stay better.
Just to note again, we do have WI-FI.
I'm Teresa, though you may call me Terry. I've lived on this property since 1974 with my husband and our 6 kids. We began this endeavor of hosting through familial relationships, thus the reason for Mom's and Dad's House. Through the years we've come to enjoy bringing fellow travelers through our property as a way to share the God-given beauty of creation. We see our homes as a haven for our children, regulars, and new arrivals.
Other things about us; my husband Harry was a general in the army, one of my son's is currently a Colonel, and my other wonderful children are across the board and across the country from therapist to stay at home Dad.
Our life motto is to try and better serve our friends and family the way Jesus Loves the world, through compassion and sacrifice.
We hope you enjoy your stay,
