The "Apple Retreat" at Green Gables is a gorgeous place with beamed 14-foot cathedral ceilings, full and spacious kitchen with island and bar stools, full dining area, outdoor covered deck. 1 very large bedroom with king bed for 2, with luxury linens. Large living room includes a true queen sofa bed for 2 more guests. 1-1/2 baths. Airy, lots of light. Great for a couple, or a family of 4, or 2 couples. Easy parking, then two steps up to front porch, where there is a spacious covered porch (which has rockers and comfortable seating for 4, surrounded by a lovely garden border.... In the summer you can open the windows and chat with people inside at the dining table). The private entrance to the house leads into the living room to the right, and a very large dining room/kitchen to the left. Both have 14' peaked cathedral ceiling, so it all feels light and airy. The oversized Master Bedroom has a King bed with luxury linens, full length mirror, closet space, and an ensuite bathroom with tub/shower. There is a second half-bath in the main part of the home. The living room is decorated in an eclectic "Door County mix" of furniture and art pieces, including some fine original oil paintings. A large TV for movies (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Cable) and some family board games will be found in the living room. Also in the living room, a good queen sleeper-sofa provides a bed for 2 more, as needed, bringing the total max. guest count to 4. The dining table seats 6, and a large kitchen island also has bar stools for hanging out at, or for setting out food. The brand new full kitchen has utensils, plates, basic cooking equipment, oven, coffee maker, kettle, fridge/freezer, toaster, dishwasher and double sink. Overall, this home, the "Apple Retreat," is elegant, relaxed, and whimsical. The photo collection includes and image with the words "Green Gables" . This photo is of another part of the collection of buildings that together make up "Green Gables." There are a total of 4 rental homes at Green Gables, all unique. Green Gables, in which this vacation home is set, is a picturesque 2 acre property, located halfway between historic Ephraim and lively Sister Bay to the North. It's a quiet and peaceful spot but a great location for darting off in either direction using Highway 42, or for easily joining Highway 57 to visit the other side of the Peninsula. The immediate neighborhood is really peaceful. Virtually no neighbors, to be honest. Country lanes to safely walk or ride down. Natural woodlands all around. Green Gables is also right opposite a parcel of land managed by the Door County Land Trust. There are no buildings there, just natural habitat for wildlife.

My name is Colin. I grew up in England but came to the U.S. as a grad student and have stayed for 20 years. I am a music director (Broadway shows - Lion King, Wicked, Billy Elliot, Hamilton, etc. - and Ballet mainly) with interests in music (thankfully!), history, art, architecture, travel, language, food and people. I've travelled to some amazing far-flung places, and wished I had a place to call home. I've also rented a thousand places and owned a few, and wished to be a vagabond instead. I'm the landlord of my own apartment in New York, and so know the importance of caring for any place I rent. I'm relaxed and friendly, and a good communicator. People have said I'm the 'ideal' renter. WOW! I'll be living in Chicago for a good while from 2016 as the Music Director of Hamilton, the musical, opening in September 2016.
