Port Arthur, Eaglehawk Neck and 3 Capes Walk are easily accessible from our home . We offer a luxurious ensuite room with entrance porch, beautiful scenery, birds, wild fauna and flora in a serene, magnificent setting. The Tasmanian pine-lined interior of the house creates irresistible charm and the genuine structural celerytop pine trunk is eye-catching. There are stupendous views from each room with shoreline and pebble beach bordering the garden.
Home-cooked meals may be arranged if required
Our property is situated on a one acre natural bush block which runs down to King George Sound which is part of the Norfolk Bay. From the house, verandah and shoreline there are clear views of Mount Wellington, King George and Smooth Islands and the hills of the surrounding areas across the bay. The sunset and water views (from each room even the bathroom) are arguably amongst the best in the world and the property, despite being situated on the coast, is wind-protected under most weather conditions.
When the conditions require it the house is heated by a wood fire in the lounge.
The accommodation on offer is of two types. Bedroom I is a luxurious guest ensuite bedroom which contains a queen size bed that is fabulously comfortable. The ensuite includes a basin, shower and toilet. The guests have the entire east wing of the house to themselves and can enjoy time on their own in their own space or join us in the shared kitchen or lounge/dining room if they wish. The bedroom has an entrance hall which offers extra privacy and a buffer zone. A second bedroom is available if required for more than 2 guests but please note this is a woodlined studio which is IN A SEPARATE BUILDING to the main house. Bedroom is a standard room and therefore is not a deluxe standard as is Bedroom 1. If this second room is required guests would still be sharing the bathroom in the guest section of the main house. Only guests from the same group would have access to the guest bathroom ensuring guest privacy. The studio guests would also be using the main house shared facilities.
In addition if guests are looking for accommodation when the main room is booked beds can usually still be found especially for guests requiring more than one night. it is always worth contacting us to enquire about accommodation even when our main room is booked.
Guests would have access to our wrap-around verandah and BBQ facilities. Access to the kitchen is provided under mutual convenience and facilities on offer include the normal implements such as microwave oven, mini-oven, gas stove top, sandwich/steak griller, kettle and toaster.
Our property has two car entrances and there is plenty of off-road parking behind gates which can be locked.
A guest can have privacy if required although we are a well travelled couple that love to hear about the experiences of other travellers if that is what guests enjoy. We also have a good knowledge of Tasmania and in particular of our peninsulas and if required are more than ready to help and advise guests on what activities, facilities, etc, are available and to plan their stay.
We need to give you access for the internet via a hot spot so please request it once you arrive.
We can accommodate extra guests in fold-out beds or a mattress on the floor Enquire about additional alternative accommodation.
We keep chickens and have our own vegetable and fruit garden and we make our own jam and bottled produce and when available serve it for breakfast together with our delicious free range freshly laid chicken eggs.
The Forestier Peninsula where our home is located is a quiet, beautiful and peaceful area where guests can relax away from the noise and bustle of city life. However, please note that here there are limited shopping facilities south of Sorell and restaurants close early (sometimes 4pm) so it is better to buy provisions in Sorell if you want to prepare your own dinner (aka tea) or one can eat out at one of the two local hotels (approximately 10 - 15 minutes drive from our house). The hotel kitchens normally serve dinner between 6pm and 8pm but times should be checked. Other restaurant information is available on request.
1. We are on sceptic tank so nothing is to be thrown/flushed down the toilets except toilet paper. Please no face wipes, cotton wool, sanitary items etc. in the toilet.
2. Our home is a non-smokers house but guests may smoke outside (please no buts / matches thrown into the garden for fire hazard and tidiness reasons).
3. Our home has wooden floors so we require guests to leave their shoes outside and use socks/soft soled slippers inside the house. Please no outdoors footwear inside the house. Also please carry suitcases rather than drag or wheel them. The wheels dent the floors.
4. We try to encourage our wild life to feel safe so we suggest guests travelling with animals should book into alternative accommodation (we feel unhappy about animals being shut up in a car during our guests stay).
I am Eileen, and Allan and I are retired and are thrilled to be living in what we think is one of the most beautiful parts of the world. We have traveled extensively including time spent in southern Africa, Britain and Europe, South America, USA and Canada, India and south-east Asia and of course Australia. We look forward to meeting you and hearing about your country and home as well as your experiences.
Besides traveling we love our garden and our chooks and animals in general although we do not have pets (other than chickens)! I am crazy about the numerous birds and indigenous orchids found on and adjacent to our property.
We enjoy music and good food and tasting new types of food.
We love living in Tasmania and sitting in our lounge or on the veranda enjoying our very special views.
