The art on the walls, hand dyed pillowcases, the bed designed by a local artisan, and the soaps handcrafted down the street, we offer a handmade experience for your Portland visit. Our home has been featured in Japanese magazines, and on Portlandia!
Welcome to Portland and our wonderful home.
We are Emily, an art director/designer/artist/musician; Adam, a musician/screenprinter; Cowbear the cat, and Donut the little dog.
Featured in the recent season of Portlandia, Kun:el Magazine, Popeye Magazine, and Linere Magazine.
Our home has wonderful amenities:
Huge remodeled kitchen with concrete counter tops, 5 burner gas stove. yes, we love to cook! And have many wonderful Le Creuset cookware, nice Shun knives, dishwasher, and raw walnut counter top.
Our wonderfully big open living room is decked out with kilim rugs, sofa and chairs, and driftwood chandelier, and many plants, Emily's art as well as art from local artists, and artifacts from our travels.
The backyard is a work in progress, but has fruit trees, and nice spots to lay about in the sun on one of our many woven blankets, though for now, it is a blank slate or bark chips..
We have 2 rooms for rent, and your room has a nice south facing window, woodfloors, nice closet space, and a hardwood bed frame. The room has a Queen bed. Also we just got brand new sheets, duvet covers, and new pillows! The pillow covered are made by Adam! And the bedding is by Parachute Home.
You will share a bathroom that has a rain shower, plants, toilet and sink with our other guests if they are there, and we also use that shower sometimes, but we have our own bathroom.
There is also a toilet just off the kitchen.
The house is very well insulated, stays nice and toasty in the winter and cool in the summer.
We use all natural soaps and cleaning products, and are sensitive to strong perfumes and colognes. Please be respectful of using them in the house. We are totally into essential oils and nice smelling things, but everyones nose is different!
We are still working on our home and there are a few unfinished things, but they are all cosmetic, and nothing that takes away from the comforts and overall style of the place. Some places don't have trim, the banister isn't totally done, etc....
Collectively we have lived in Portland for over 25 years, and will happily share our favorite breakfast spots, bars, venues, and more with you! Maybe there is a cool BBQ, concert, or art opening while you are in town, we will let you know!
Our home is close to Alberta Street, Mississippi ave, the Sunday farmers market is 2 blocks away! There are multiple transit options within 2 blocks as well.
We are near great bars, fantastic dining, and a few great parks as well.
Pets allowed on a case by case basis. That said, Donut our dog is bark these days. He is a rescue and is very proud. He is a small guy, and not mean, but sometimes he can be loud.
Cowbear our cat is 18 years old and loves to cuddle. But she doesn't like dogs that chase her, so if you have an animal you are bringing we will need to discuss.
We really look forward to having you in our home.
Emily, Adam, Cowbear, and Donut.
You are welcome to use our kitchen, hang out in the livingroom, backyard, and front porch. We want you to feel at home!
We work for ourselves so sometimes we are super busy, and other times we are home making meals and cocktails...
We love it when our guests are up to their own thing out exploring the city, and occasionally around to share an evening beer.
4 blocks away is Everybody's Bicycles where you can rent bikes. Everyone has been happy with the service there.
We hope you treat our home with the care that you would treat your own place. We have rebuilt this place from the old bones of it's 1906 frame, and put lots of love into it.
If you cook, we hope you will clean up after yourself. We ask that no wooden utensils or nice knives go in the dishwasher. You are welcome to use our oils and spices, but if you use up anything or use a lot we hope you will please replace it.
Also if you wear strong scents, cologne, or perfume, we ask that you please refrain from wearing it in the house. We use all natural unscented detergents.
Otherwise, we want you to feel comfortable and at home in our home.
