Kirstie, I am very sorry to hear about your experience.
I am afraid that whilst I was away the fridge stopped working, however it was working and in good condition when I left my flat and left the keys with you. This is why the food inside went off, and unfortunately you haven't dispose of all of it immediately, so the bad smells continue bothering you throughout your stay. I had no idea about this issue whilst I was away, and obviously did not expect it to happen. The issue is fixed now, the fridge is now working again.
I also reported this issue immediately to AirBNB when I returned to the flat.
The apartment was ready for you with the clean linen and a set of towels (all clean and fresh from the washing machine) so I have no idea why do you describe towels as dirty.
Once again I am sorry to hear about your experience which I believe is due to exceptional circumstances as I would never intentionally leave the flat unclean or have rotting food in the fridge.
