We received no complaint from Kavita until after her stay. If she had raised issues at the beginning of her stay, we would have happily let her off this booking. She and I were in communication when she arrived. I was in Europe and up until 2:30am Berlin time to answer some of her questions. Kavita had plenty of opportunities to raise her concerns.
After her stay, she left this review which was a complete surprise to us. She complained about cleanliness which was never brought up during her stay. She said there is no storage or closet space to put clothes. This is true for the master bedroom but the 2 guest bedrooms have space in the closets for hanging clothes. Plus, most of our guests who are just there for the weekend don't use our closets at all. This is a house we stay in and when we are not there, we share with Airbnb guests. There is definitely personal belongings in every room, but they are not disorganized. We also have a cabinet full of toys for families with kids. Most families put them back before leaving but some families don't. So my maid tries her best to organize after the Airbnb guests departure. Airbnb guests tend to take things and not returning them to the same spot. This includes furniture, toys, and cooking utensils. I usually have to spend hours getting the house back in order when I get back. My maid doesn't have the time to do such organization nor is she tasked to organize.
It's interesting that Kavita's first line is that this house is "over priced". I would strongly encourage people who are looking for cheaper accommodations book elsewhere. You can find tiny 3 bedroom houses elsewhere closer to town for half the price. This is a BIG house with an amazing view and location. However, to get to the view, you do have to drive up a mile from St Francis winery on a paved one-lane road. So another note about critters: the house is inside a regional park. You will have spiders and my maid might miss a few of them (or new ones are made all the time). Outside you might see animal droppings and maybe even rattle snakes. This was their home first before the house was even built. When Airbnb guests leave food out, this obviously attracts yellow jackets and raccoons...
In terms of the pool, I will reiterate to Kavita here -- the pool is old (built in the 60s). The pool is fed by spring water and over time, this has caused discoloration on the bottom of the pool. I have a pool guy maintaining and cleaning the pool every week on Tuesdays. And the pool filter runs nightly for several hours.
Kavita also complained about the "4 men staying in the other house" which she was told that there were guests staying in the other house a few weeks before her arrival. The 4 men were there on a work trip and were hardly there at all.
In terms of locking the door... we typically don't lock our doors but have keys if she had asked for them. She never asked for keys! We just installed a keypad lock with a code for guests.
I think for people like Kavita (Airbnb member since 2018), it is best for her to go to a hotel instead of an Airbnb booking!
