Our unique and newly refurbished apartment is situated in a town house close to the St. Nicolai church ruin, in the middle of the medieval city Visby. It has all facilities just around the corner - stores, restaurants, the harbor and attractions such as the Botanical Garden.
This bright corner town house is carefully renovated with typical Gotlandic materials such as white glazed boards of slow-growing pine and limestone. It is called ”Butiken” or in English ”The Grocery Store”. In the old days this used to be one of Visby’s grocery stores and in the apartment you will find some of the old shops signs, preserved during the renovation, now hanging on the walls.
Butiken is 55 sq m, fully equipped with all amenities such as refrigerator, freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher, a kitchen fully equipped with all amenities, shower/bathtub, flat screen TV and DVD Player. Butiken has central heating and is equipped with air-condition! Something summer visitors will appreciate since these thick medieval walls have a tendency to absorb heat during summer. Four people live comfortably in the two bedrooms with the possibility for an extra person to sleep in the living room bed sofa. You also easily, from the kitchen, access Butiken’s very nice garden with patio furniture. (The garden is shared with our neighbors, four other families)
Butiken is rented out on a weekly basis, Sunday to Sunday.
Gotland is an island in the middle of the Baltic Sea, easy accessible by ferries (several daily trips from Nynäshamn or Oskarshamn and by air from several Swedish airports, from Stockholm up to 30 flights per day during the summer. Only ten minutes by car to the airport and the ferry port can be reached in twenty minutes by foot. The busy season, with a lot of tourists, stretches from the middle of June to the middle of August.
Sheets, towels and WI-FI are included. A cleaning fee is charged of 500 SEK.
