We have a great houskeeper and she will set up the house for your arrival. She will check everything is in order and that the house is clean and fresh.
We don't do a 'meet and greet' but guests with reservations will receive comprehensive instructions when they book.
We are on a working farm so their is a certain amount of 'country smells' and early morning noise from the farm. We have double glazed windows to minimise this noise but if you are a light sleeper, you may be woken at 6am each morning as the farm starts its working day.
Update: It seems several guests have not understood the fact that this is a working farm. As the house is opposite the milking sheds, there is a certain amount of noise, especially in the master bedroom as on alternate days a milk tanker fills up between 6am and 7am. I am a light sleeper and it does wake me up, my wife on the other hand doesn't hear it! If you are a very light sleeper, like me, ear plugs will help if you want to sleep in.
The summer of 2014 was particularly warm and the farm had an unusual amount of flies. As a result we now treat the property each Spring and have put fly screens on all the windows. There is also a fly management process in place throughout the year, with the assistance of the farm and a pest control company.
The house and gardens are secure, but as always you need to exercise caution when you have little ones around, such as making sure gates are always closed etc.
All we ask is you treat our home like your own and look after it for us!
If you need to smoke there are plenty of outside spaces to do so.
As we are on a working farm, so we regret no pets.
I now live in Malaysia but grew up in Cornwall 12 miles from Dairy Cottage. We bought the house in 2013 and completely rebuilt the interior. On the inside it's essentially a new house, yet it retains all of it's 19th Century charm, with the beams, window seats and the loam oven. The 3ft thick granite walls keep the house cool in summer and toasty in the winter, making it a great year round holiday home.
We use the house each summer so my two children to have somewhere to call home in the UK and for them to enjoy summers like I did as a kid; playing down on the beach, rock pooling and running around the fields and woods on long summer days.
We've tried to think of everything to make your stay comfortable, entertaining and a 'home from home'.
I'm sure you will love staying at our Cornish home as much as we do.
