Handsome brick ranch in beautiful neighborhood 5 miles S of Asheville Center, 2 miles to Blue Ridge Parkway and I-26. Only local traffic in neighborhood, good for walking. Front door in city, back door in country. Futons for extra people available, upon request.

A gay friendly home.

Breakfast food provided -- fresh fruit and Cereal or you may cook bacon and eggs; good bread and jam.

Local printed guides and maps available.

Local shopping center has many interesting stores, including an "Earth Fare," which I think is better than "Whole Food" and not as expensive. Many good restaurants in neighborhood: Italian, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, and Contemporary Southern.

Front yard in town; back yard in country. Often a bitt cluttered because I do not put any yard waste on street. Leaves and and garden waste is composted; stems and prunings are saved for kindling in our fireplace. Work in the yard for me is meditation and I go into Alpha state.

There is a long multi-purpose room with a den for tv, a dinette table, and a kitchen. Guests have access to the kitchen for breakfast. There is plenty of space in the house and on the outside deck for quiet enjoyment.

Your host James will be available to greet and orient you to the space, the neighborhood, the city, and the region. Unless requested there will be only incidental contact.

This a quiet neighborhood. There are no sidewalks, but the streets are safe for walking and auto traffic is respectful of walkers. There is a city park nearby which also offers walking areas, and the State Arboretum is nearby.

Like most of America, public transportation is minimal. A public bus runs about once an hour between downtown, about 5 miles north, and the Airport, which is three miles south.

This is a large house in a quiet, low-density neighborhood. There are two guest rooms on the main level and a seperate groundlevel apartment below. For large family gatherings, we can accomodate up to 10 people with advanced planning.

No smoking inside. Pets by prior arrangement, fenced in back yard. Clothes can be washed and dried for small extra fee. ATT cable TV, multiple channels. DVD and plenty of movies available. Please keep volume and voices low after 12 AM..

My girlfriend and I traveled traveled with our pup to Asheville this past weekend and had the pleasure of staying at James's place. The location was everything we'd hoped for. It was quiet and secluded, but a close and central drive to great hiking at Blue Ridge and Looking Glass to name a few. It was also just a quick drive/uber to downtown Asheville. James had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bedroom and bathroom were exceptionally clean, and we had plenty of pillows, blankets and towels to use. The kitchen was fully stocked with eggs, muffins, coffee and fresh fruit, which was incredible before long days of hiking. James was available for anything we needed, but was more than happy to give us space and let us do our own thing. The icing on the cake was when James offered to watch our dog the last night we were in town so we could go out just the two of us. James and his adorable and friendly dog, Mr. Blue were wonderful hosts and we'd highly recommend this as a place to stay for anyone wishing to visit the Asheville area.

Great place to stay close to downtown Asheville. James was great and did everything he could to make sure we were comfortable.
Wesley, I was pleased to offer you the space, but it was an immediate turn over. Sorry about the dust, but that is the price we pay for the open fireplace. May I assure you that the towels and sheets were clean -- in fact just out of the lundry. JH

James was a wonderful host and I was very pleased with my first airbnb experience. He was very kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived. He was willing to help us with any questions we had about asheville but also gave us space when we needed it. His home, yard, and neighborhood are beautiful and safe. The location was a little bit further than downtown than I hoped (20-30 min) but for the price it was totally worth it. I would definitley recommend staying here!
Please come again. I will try to shorten the distance to downtown. LOL. James

You may not meet a more authentic AirBnb host than James. He is a very smart gentle soul and has created a peaceful atmosphere in his home. If you seek this in a host, you should definitely stay at James' house. :-)
Thanks for the kind words from both of you, and for overlooking the occasional b its of dust. You know what is important. I hope you will come again and we can continue our conversation about lizards and innovative means of value exchange. James

We loved our stay with James. His house is beautiful and his dog got along well with mine. My pup also loved it here, it wasn't loud and she had a LOT of backyard to run around in. Downtown Asheville is about a 15 minute drive, but there are multiple restaurants and shops all within a five minute drive. James is an excellent host and we recommend his home if you are traveling to Asheville.

Really nice host!

We loved our stay at James home. James has a very large house with a beautiful back yard and front yard in a very nice neighborhood , just about 15-17 mins south from the center of downtown Asheville. At first we were worried that we were staying too far away from our destination of the Explore Arena and Orange Peel located in downtown Asheville, but it was actually the perfect distance . My fiancé and I pick this place because we needed to bring our adorable pup Shelby Rose. James made her feel like home and took care of her as if she was his own. That meant a lot to us considering we recently added her to our family. When we left for our adventures James took care of her and watched over her even though we didn't mind cratering her. She is also a very gentle dog and I think he could see that. Our bedroom was large with a full bed with lots of drawer and closet space and lots of blankets available. The bathroom was located right across from our bedroom with two sinks a tub and separate shower and tons of clean towels to use! James was very hospitable offered us snacks, breakfast and drinks. He also gave us great conversation in front of his beautiful fireplace that he always had going especially when we came home from our late night adventures. James gave us our privacy was accepting, generous interesting and kind. Our favorite part of his home was his adorable and sweet doggie Blue who accompanied our pup perfectly. Great place to stay for travelers dog owners and couples.
