Nestled among tall ponderosa pines, Alto Cozy Mountain Hideaway sleeps up to 8 people with style to spare. As soon as you pull into the crescent driveway, which can accommodate as many as 4 cars, you’ll be charmed. And once you step into the 2-story A-frame home, with its planked walls and beamed ceilings, you’ll be positively delighted.
Because each floor has a living area, a balcony, 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom, Alto Cozy Mountain Hideaway is especially well suited for 2 couples or families vacationing together: Each group can have its own floor but still cook, dine, and hang out together. One of the main floor’s bedrooms has a queen-size bed, while the other includes 2 twin beds. Each of the upstairs bedrooms features a king-size bed. The spacious master bedroom even has its own gas fireplace, perfect for chilly evenings as you snuggle in bed with your sweetheart while watching TV.
The upstairs living area has a roll-arm sofa and a plush armchair where you can watch a movie on the flat-panel TV with cable or surf the web via the free WiFi. You can enjoy a snack at the upstairs dining table, which seats 4, or play cards; you’ll find a poker tabletop ready and waiting. And on warm days you’ll want to take advantage of the living area’s balcony. Furnished with padded chairs, it’s a lovely perch for looking out over the trees toward the Sierra Blanca; you might even spy bald eagles or falcons soaring across the sky.
The main floor’s great room has its own flat-panel TV, along with a sumptuous leather couch and 2 armchairs. The stone-surround wood-burning fireplace is sure to be a favorite gathering spot, especially after a day on the slopes. The dining table on the main floor easily seats 6, and there’s room for 4 more at the adjacent breakfast bar. Or you can dine alfresco: The main level’s deck has its own dining table.
You can cook outdoors too, on the deck’s grill—though of course Alto Cozy Mountain Hideaway also has a fully equipped kitchen indoors. Whether you’re reheating leftovers from the previous night’s restaurant meal or hosting a holiday feast, you’ll find all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you could possibly need. In addition, the house has its own washer and dryer. Not only can you pack light, but you can even return home with freshly laundered clothes in your suitcase.
Alto Cozy Mountain Hideaway is located in Alto, an upscale bedroom community just outside of Ruidoso. In only 5 minutes you can drive to Alto Lake and Recreation Area; when you’re not fishing—the lake is stocked with trout—you can explore the surrounding trails on foot, mountain bike, or horseback. Just a few minutes beyond the lake is Ruidoso Winter Park, where you can snow tube in winter and soar on a zip line year-round. The Links at Sierra Blanca golf course is only a 10-minute drive from the house. Also less than a half-hour away are the Hubbard Museum of the American West, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institute; Ruidoso Downs horse track; Billy the Kid Casino; the art galleries and artisan shops of Sudderth Drive; and Grindstone Lake and Trail System, where you can fish, boat, hike, ride mountain bikes and horses, and play disc golf; you might also see ospreys, mule deer, black bears, and elk while there. And in just 35 minutes you can drive to Ski Apache, the southernmost continually operating ski resort in the country. (Note that because you’re in ski country, during winter you may need a 4x4 or chains on a 2-wheel drive vehicle to access the home.)
Because there’s so much to see and do nearby, you’ll never be bored. But after an action-packed day, you’ll relish the serenity, comfort, and ease of Alto Cozy Mountain Hideaway at night. Experience its pleasures for yourself; book your stay today.
