I manage 12 suites on the mezzanine level, taking care of the suites for my guests. It's easy to think that I'm just roaming around, since you are trying to avoid from being seen with 2 other guests that were not on the original reservation.
Honesty is the best policy, which you have failed to learn. Most people would not deny breaking a wine glass and telling the host they did their best to pick up all the broken pieces. It happens and I understand. But for you to blatantly lie about breaking the glass and not accepting responsibility is childish. I told you the cleaners found the broken glass and put it on the shelf, where the 4th wine glass was missing. They took a picture, showing the missing wine glass and glass shards next to it. It's human nature to pick up what looks to be glass in a rug and to examine. Obviously, we learned from people like you, to take pictures of the glass shards in the rug. I think most people would appreciate any host that look out for their safety. You, on the other hand, don't think of anyone but yourself. Good luck in life! You'll need it.
BTW - I didn't know you can purchase a 7' x 7' rug at Ikea for $10.
