Lovely 1 Bedroom Apartment in a gorgeous part of Harlem, steps away from the Apollo Theatre, 14 Min Subway ride to Time Square. 4 Major subway lines just a block away!!
Not a good experience. The place needs a lot of tidying and cleaning! Also we were unlucky with noise and a smelling fridge and freezer. On the plus side, Cate kept a friendly tone through all our communication (only text messaging).
Anya, I find your review dishonest and bias in order for you gain a refund. The apartment was clean and tidy, you have 9 photos of the apartment to view when booking. The apartment is lived in, it is not a vacant apartment so you must understand that you can not expect each and every Airbnb you rent to look like a hotel room and be minimalistic. As I had message prior to your arrival, We live in the aprtment that is being Airbnb’d and you children may play with any toys etc... In regards to cleanliness, the apartment had been cleaned for 8 hours prior to your arrival, so again please don’t try to portray the aprtment as dirty and untidy. It seems your dishonest review was given due to your dissatisfaction although you have 9 legitimate photos to view prior to booking. I’m assuming this was your 1st time to New York, and in regards to noise, I can honestly say this is a quiet building and yes unfortunately maybe during the holiday season someone had a disagreement, but unfortunately any host has no control over what could happen in regards to neighbors or external noise. I say external noise as you went as far to complain about a fire alarm battery in a public residential hallway. Which is ridiculous... it seems you have extremely high expectations of places in which you wish to lay your head for the night, I suggest maybe next time raise you budget per night especially if it’s a holiday weekend, You may just be in luck to find something ideal for you standards. The weekend you booked to stay at the apartment was New Year’s Eve, between Airbnb and Hotel rooms in the city and surrounding areas prices were going for an average of $600 a night. Good Luck with your next rental. Examine Photos and Ask additional questions prior to booking just to clarify your standards will be met. Regards, Cate.
