It’s disappointing to see your recent review following your stay with us, which was initially reviewed by you as a wonderful experience. Our check out inspection of the property on the day of your departure found that the driveway had been damaged by your group conducting “burn outs”, which was verified by concerned neighbours who notified us of the activity. The property itself was left clean and tidy and as an act of good faith we decided to repair the driveway at no cost to you. 4 days later we were obliged to contact you regarding the discovery of 2 broken dining chairs by housekeeping as they prepared the property for the incoming guests. We invited you to respond and this advice was accompanied with an explanation and photos of the damaged items along with the most competitive replacement cost we could find. Unfortunately, your response was less than conciliatory, with you threatening to remove your great review and replace it with the one you have now submitted, while conveniently making no mention of the "burn outs” you conducted. Given the tone of your response Airbnb advised we defer to them to handle the issue, which we have done, in the hope of ensuring a fair and reasonable outcome for all parties concerned.
In response to your other comments Emma, you did certainly contact us about the gas fireplace during your stay. After having no luck resolving the issue over the phone, we offered to send our on call maintenance straight away, however you declined our offer of service, advising that it wasn’t a big problem as you were more than comfortable with the air-conditioned property. The fireplace was inspected by our gas fitter after your stay and found to be operational (possibly an air block caused your issue). There certainly are garbage bins at the property as this is a standard requirement at all properties. There is a large lined bin at the back door, 2 lined bins in the cupboard next to the fridge and lined bins in each bathroom of the house.
