Cute country miner's cottage with classic cosy interiors and a peaceful scenic garden under mature grand trees is nestled into the eastern slope of Wombat Hill, a block from the Botanic Gardens. It is a short walk north to Daylesford Vintage Railway and Sunday Markets, or west over the hill to the town centre and lake. You're in the main bedroom with a four-poster Queen-sized bed, antique cupboard and southern outlook onto the front garden – perfect for a couple or individual

お部屋
Traditional country cottage on 1/4 acre block on the quiet side of town overlooking fields to the east. It's one block down from Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens - a walk west over the hill on my road takes you into town, north to the railway and markets open on a Sunday, or south to the Cornish Hill regenerated bush with its walking trails. Interior configuration has remained unaltered since it was built 60 years ago and the garden has been landscaped over 37 years by the previous owner, with many evergreen alpine and deciduous trees dating back more than a century. I've furnished it for a warm, welcoming and comfortable cosy feeling, brought the laundry inside, added a veggie plot and fruit trees, a peacock and its mate that roam the grounds, and Wilbur - my city tabby who's loving the space and interested in visitors. Currently building a flight pen in the backyard for ducks and hens - and possibly the peafowl if they start nesting or keep messing up the garden and pathways!

ゲストの立ち入り範囲
Guests are welcome to use any part of the house and garden, including of course the car port and/or front driveway - if I'm home I sleep and work in my study/office/bedroom and would need to share communal spaces such as the kitchen with you. You're welcome to cook (note no microwave) or use the fridge (only about 150 L total capacity), utensils etc. Living room has TV, DVD, stereo etc & Telstra wifi (I don't subscribe to Netflix tho, sorry). Kitchen has a TV with Apple TV. Shower and bathroom are inside but the toilet is in an outhouse just beyond the laundry at the rear of the building - this contains a sofa bed that could accommodate two but with less insulation and people in the house needing to access to toilet it isn't yet optimal for that. Both front and back gardens have outdoor seating and there's also a front verandah with outdoor chairs and tables.

その他の特記事項
As mentioned above, there is no internal toilet - like many houses of a certain age, it's in an outhouse. It's only a couple of sheltered metres away from the main house however and has a heated toilet seat and electronic bidet to make it bearable on a cold night! An inside loo is a priority as part of a refurbished and enlarged bathroom :)

It's the eastern end of town, which on a weekend is much quieter than the main street or around the lake. Wombat Hill and the Convent Gallery on its western side overlook Daylesford but despite the beautiful established Botanical Gardens and lookout tower on its summit, few tourists think to go over to the eastern slope, which leads down to the an industrial estate with a herbal liqueur distillery, David Bromley studio, gyms, vet, car wash etc.; farmland with open fields, livestock and homesteads; the historic railway with markets every Sunday; the Farmers Arms Hotel/Motel; plus access to roads to Castlemaine, Musk, Trentham, Woodend etc. Cornish Hill is a block or two south and has only recently been regenerated by locals to its native bush land state prior to the original gold exploration, plus has one of the few springs this side of town. Thus Wilbur's is the 'morning side' of a more authentic "locals' Daylesford" where visitors can enjoy greater privacy, connection with nature and quieter views and walks away from weekend traffic and crowds.

I started independent travelling 25 years ago when only curiosity, guide books, word of mouth and gut instinct lit a path! Have since voyaged, flitted and holidayed at different levels for all sorts of reasons but a platform like this is welcome in an age of increasingly standardised hotel chains, impersonal lodgings and casual hospitality staff. I work from home and with flexible hours can offer a comfortable room or two, intuitive hospitality and free advice from a recent Daylesford 'tree changer' who can empathise with culture-shocked first-time visitors, enthusiastic experience-seekers or the relaxed/casual weekend browser. Both here and in inner Sydney I've hosted the whole gamut of guests – be they individuals, couples, old friends and family members of varied backgrounds, beliefs and aspirations from around the world – for both short and long-term stays. Couldn't live without: 1) a hot shower (sorry to cryotherapy fans, happy campers and three-day bushwalkers but to me it's almost an inalienable human right!) 2) fresh food - seasonal and local 3) windows that open (and close) 4) heart, brain & other vital organs, obviously 5) good soil/earth/terrain and water is very important to all the above too. FAVE destinations: Britain for friends, Ubud for ambience, Norway & the Blue Mountains for views, Berlin for fun, the sea for escape. N.B.: "Things change"

Been here two years on my own so more than happy to keep guests company! As I'm still usually home I can welcome you in and show you around, recommend places to go and explain how to get around or how things in the property work. If I'm away it usually isn't far - e.g. Melbourne - I'm best contacted on my mobile and we may have to talk in any case about feeding the animals..!
