Enjoy your own private two acre desert oasis with the best view in town of Alpine's famous twin peaks. Guests have full use of a 35-foot renovated skirted Wilderness RV that's been uniquely customized for full-time living with many creative touches, a “Cowboy Clubhouse” communal living area, glorious mountain views, privacy, and the best weather in Texas! Please read details before booking our oasis- we are on a water catchment system (no well or city water) so water conservation is key!

お部屋
My husband and I live in San Antonio, Texas, but we left our heart in Alpine after living here from 2008-2012, during which time we founded a business and became active members of the community. In 2017 we purchased our oasis in the desert. The previous owners, Cheryl and John, took 2 undeveloped acres and poured their hearts and souls into it, bringing in electricity, a water catchment system, septic tank and other eco-friendly yet functional utilities. They updated an rv with beauty at every turn- Cheryl is a folk artist, and everything from the whimsical clouds in the second bedroom to the painted water catchment tanks add beauty and wonder to the place. There is also a composting bin, fire pit, and more. In addition, you can sit outside drinking coffee in the morning and see numerous doves and other birds flying and chirping in the beautiful morning light.

Before booking, please note that because we are on a water catchment system we ask that guests limit showers to 5 minutes, use the 2-sink method to wash dishes, and never leave the faucet running unless actively filling sinks, rinsing toothbrushes, etc. We do provide drinking water to each guest, which is enough for a family of 4 staying 2-4 nights- please do not drink the water from the faucet.

We offer up the main 35-foot rv, our tiny movie camper, the “Cowboy Clubhouse” communal living area and 2-acre grounds to guests. The tiny house (nicknamed “Stardust”) next to the catchment tanks is our private guest house for now, as it does not have water yet (though guests are welcome to take a look, never hurts to peek!) The silver vintage camper, nicknamed “Teatro” is a movie house complete with tv and DVD player and a daybed. Please help us by leaving it exactly as you found it, and bringing any trash into main house to be bagged before departing.

About our name:
Our two daughters are named Luz (Spanish for "Light") and Paloma (Spanish for "Dove"). When we first visited the property we were delighted to see it located on Dove Rd- it felt like a sign. When you enter our property you will see a beautiful hand-painted dove that artist Cheryl Frances made to mark the driveway. Recently I added my own mural to the largest water tank, inspired by loteria, or Mexican bingo. The two cards-La Paloma and La Luz- represent our daughters’ names and include the years they were born.

ゲストの立ち入り範囲
The main 35-foot RV is all yours. Fire pit may be used if burn bans are not in effect- inquire with your host Ashely prior to starting a fire in the pit. Provided it can be used, please make sure to extinguish with grey water prior to leaving property or going to bed.

Feel free to explore all 2 acres on foot, but when not on designated walkways take special care to watch where you step. Never approach wildlife that you encounter- if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone.

その他の特記事項
Please help us conserve water by limiting your time in the shower, and by never leaving the kitchen sink running if you aren't actively brushing your teeth or washing dishes. We do not have city water-- everything you use for showering and dishes comes from the water catchment system, and we recycle the grey water from shower and sink to water plants. We also provide filtered drinking water for our guests, located on counter.

Note that in the winter Alpine can get very very cold. While we provide space heaters in the trailer, there may be times when the entire space isn't toasty warm. We provide plenty of extra blankets and suggest that you always bring extra sweaters and layers during the winter.

Sleeping area for 5th guest is dinette in main rv, which folds into an extra bed. Extra linens are in bench seat under the dinette nearest the fridge. Alternately, there is a twin bed in the metal building that a 5th guest could sleep on.

Our place is 3 miles outside of downtown, and that lots of wildlife call it home. Jackrabbits, cottontails, birds, deer, snakes and other critters have all been spotted. Please be mindful when roaming in the area, and do not approach wildlife.

Finally, if you have never visited West Texas you might be surprised by how dusty it can be, especially since the desert often goes months without rainfall. It can also be extremely windy, especially in the spring! Year-round you will experience temperature fluctuations- even in the summer the evenings cool off substantially, so pack layers just in case. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

I am an artist and mother of two young girls, married to a wonderful guy since 2004. My husband Vic works at a local advertising agency, and I am a full-time portrait artist and muralist who does part-time marketing work. Our family loves the outdoors and exploring new places, though our hearts are in Big Bend where we used to live full time and own a store. We recently bought 2 acres in Alpine, and turned our home away from home into an Airbnb too :)

Victor and I live in San Antonio, Texas so we won't be meeting you face to face. But rest assured you will be in the excellent hands of our Alpine neighbor, co-host and dear friend Ashley. After booking, you will receive check-in instructions and her contact info, and be able to reach out to her if you have any questions.
