The Asian Room is located on the second floor in The Rosemary District directly on Boulevard of the Arts. The Rosemary is Sarasota's fastest growing area and has several restaurants and specialty stores and musical venues. Downtown is within easy walking distance (5 blocks). The beach is 3 miles.
Zen paintings in Japanese ink, great natural lighting, ceramic tile floors in the common areas, painted concrete floors in the bedrooms, relaxing atmosphere, tasteful and eclectic furnishings, the balcony loaded with plants, the feeling of peace upon entering the apartment. To be in the middle of Sarasota and feel so far removed. What a great way to experience Sarasota.
The bedroom door can be locked from the inside. There is a television in the room with ROKU. We have Netflix and Hulu accounts set up for our guests and there are hundreds of other possibilities. We do not have cable. Guests have access to the living room. dining area, kitchen to prepare light meals, and the balcony. Smoking or vaping is only permitted on the balcony.
I will welcome guests upon arrival. During the day I'm usually working in my studio located next door. I can always be reached via telephone or text. My husband and I may or may not be staying in the apartment at night.
The apartment is not handicapped accessible. There is a flight of 17 steps to get to the door. The door to the apartment and my studio have a private entrance from the street level. My husband (whose name is also Mark) and I have been together for 20 years. He is a self-employed professional and I work from home. We have lived in Sarasota for most of our time together. We live rather casually and we have no room for drama. We entertain rather frequently and I enjoy cooking. We also enjoy camping, canoeing and fishing. And we can frequently be found gardening.
Mark is from New England and I grew up in Florida. Until we met, I had lived most of my adult life overseas. We enjoy theater. art. opera and most other fields of the arts, both visual and performance. We also enjoy reading and writing.
We decided we wanted be involved with Airbnb in April 2015 because we thought it would be a great way to meet interesting people from around the world. And it has been a wonderful experience. We love it. We also use Airbnb when we travel.
