This unique home is at the heart of the village. You can rent the whole cottage for minimum 2 day stays - sleeps 10. 7 day stays are preferred with a Saturday changeover.
The house is a stones throw from the playground, Pub and bus stop for all local routes.
An easy and quick walk takes you to Musslewick beach (Great for the sunset) and go slightly further afield to Marloes Sands, Martins Haven,St Brides and West Dale to take in all the beaches the local headland has to offer.
The house faces the village green and therefore is not overshadowed by any other properties. This means from Sunrise to around 5 pm the front of the house is a sun trap. There is an outdoor dining area which connects to the interior dining area through fully retractable sliding windows.
The garden at the front of the house is a perfect spot for reading a book and relaxing.
Next to the front garden, accessed by the second gate are outdoor wash up facilities for sandy bodies from the beach and sports equipment which can be stored safely beside the shed. There is a drying rail for wetsuits and towels where the sports equipment is stored.
Once you step inside the house you enter the dining space. this has bench seating surrounding the perimeter for lounging and then a 2 metre table which can seat up to 12. This space can be opened up to the outside through the full length window, or made cosy by night for long, lazy dinners. This room has underfloor heating for the winter months and is warm in the summers by the sun.
Just off the sun room is the downstairs bathroom which is a wet room, comprising shower toilet and sink. There is hot water throughout the day supplied by the solar PV and air source heat pump. All efforts were made to refurbish the house to be as environmentally sustainable as possible.
A set of sliding doors between the dining room and the rest of the ground floor space mean that you can open the space up completely or close it down for more privacy. Once out of the dining room you are in the heart of the original cottage. evidenced by the old stone walls and everything suddenly not being quite straight!
The space has been opened up completely with the stairs to the first floor in the centre of two living spaces. One with the fire place and ercol style sofa set for lounging and reading and chatting to those in the kitchen. the other side with the tv, sofa and lounging chair. In this space you can chat to the people still having dinner or close them out with the louvre doors for some relaxing time.
The kitchen is one step up from the living space through the old external wall of the cottage. there is a half height wall left between the spaces and floor to ceiling shelves for easy access to plates, cutlery, herbs, spices and all else you will need for cooking your meals on the large induction range hob.
The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, dish washer, washing machine and dryer as well as cafetiere, teapot, juicer, all you should need to prepare your meals and drinks throughout the day.
On the first floor you turn left and right to access the two master bedrooms. These rooms face east and benefit from a beautiful sunrise. Each have a kingsize bed and facilities for folded and hanging clothes.
Directly in front of you at the top of the stairs is the rear bedroom. this is a lovely cosy room with a sloping ceiling and double bed. At the rear this room gets the evening sunshine.
The first floor bathroom has a bath/shower, toilet and sink.
The floor is tiled with Moroccan encaustic tiles.
The last bedroom is accessed via a fixed timber loft ladder past the reading nook overlooking the village green. it is a cosy double bedroom with light from the sun tunnels in the roof. There is a fully glazed end to this gallery bedroom which overlooks the bedroom below. This space can be made completely private by the blind which covers the window. This room in combination with the one below is perfect for a family - kids love the loft room - or for friends who are comfortable with the combined but separate spaces.
The loft has a protective guard rail around the opening and handrails on the ladder for safety for younger guests.
There is a tripp trapp high seat provided plus a travel cot for those who need it.
The house is ideal for families and groups of friends.
You will have access to the whole house and garden. The top garden will be shared with the owner at the weekend. All of the lower garden and external dining area is private for the guests.
If checking in and out on a Saturday I will be there to check you in and show you around the house when you arrive. I will email you the house manual in advance of your stay with details where to find everything and how to work things. I will be there at weekends in the top garden away from your space.
If you need anything in my absence then I have friends in the village who can help you. You are free to call or message me with any enquiries you may have on your stay.
There is one parking space allocated to the house at the rear. You must park with consideration to others coming and going.
I would encourage guests to car share for environmental reasons as well as the fact the Marloes gets extremely busy with cars in the summer months. There is a no parking rule at the front of the house (community council rule)
I can find space for up to two other cars 5 minutes walk from the house.
No pets allowed - apologies. There are two very friendly resident cats who live in their own shed at the top of the garden. For this reason as well as housekeeping and odors I regret not to be able to offer accommodation for dogs or other pets.
Please switch lights off in the day! I have had a few guests who have left the out door lights and some indoor lights on 24/7 7 days a week. This is really bad for the environment, it also annoys my neighbours! Please check all lights are off before bedtime or you go out for the day.
These rules have come about from experiences had with guests so far - I hoped to be able to say please treat the house as if it was your own, but it seems some more specifics are required!
Be honest about the size of your group.
The house can accommodate 10 as advertised - but this is the maximum.
Children count as people!!
Please tell me about your group when you book.
Please use the bins provided for recycling, litter and food waste.
When the food waste bin is full please empty it in the compost bins and do not leave it to overflow on the kitchen top, down the sides and along the floor.
Please reasonably sweep or hoover up food that drops on the floor. Please clean stains as you create them so they do not leave a lasting stain. Especially on the soft furnishings.
Please leave things where you find them and use things in their place. For example - kitchen appliances are for use in the kitchen (!)
If you break anything report it so it can be fixed for you and future guests.
No smoking inside at all. If you smoke outside please dispose of the cigarette ends in a bin once they are safely extinguished.
Please switch off lights! I have had a lot of guests leave lights on 24/7 this is wasteful and bad for the environment.
Please leave sandy or muddy shoes outside in the racks provided.
Please rinse sandy clothes in the outdoor wash up facilities before putting them in the washing machine. Excessive amounts of sand in the washing machine will break it.
