As a host, I pride myself on working with guests to mediate disagreements and work towards a solution that is fair for the both of us. I love what I do, and consider it a pleasure to hosts guests from around the world in my home. During Kevin's stay, I was away on a 70 day, 4000 mile cycling trip from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska to share hope and knowledge in the fight against cancer. With that, I did my best to communicate with him and Airbnb to mediate the dispute and provide a happy medium. I am not the kind of host that refuses changes to reservations, but I do expect there to be grace and understanding on both ends. Regarding the cancellation/change policy, I offered a different reservation which Kevin declined. I was then told he would continue with the reservation by Airbnb. Instead, he ended up cancelling his reservation half way through the booking, without communicating his intent to do so.
Regarding the bathroom door, one of my guests damaged its hinges, but I have had it fixed completely.
Regarding the high bed, it is part of my desire to express a Texas-themed, ranch style home in Austin. I will provide a step in the near future.
As a host, I have hosted over 50 guests without issue. I communicate as much as possible with my guests and I do my best to remain open and understanding. I apologize that Kevin considered my attempts to mediate a happy medium unprofessional, but I was doing my best with my ability to communicate at the time. I am no longer abroad.
