My home is close to Swarthmore College. You’ll love its artistic charm and elegance, the cozy living room, and the walkable neighborhood. My place is good for traveling scholars, visitors to the College, couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
The bedroom has comfortable queen bed and an attached full private bath to give you privacy throughout your stay. The room is light, airy, and clean, but with homey touches to make your trip more comfortable.
Currently, there is a 30 day maximum stay set. If you're interested in a longer duration stay, this may be possible on a case-by-case basis. Send me an inquiry if this is of interest!
I also have an Airbnb listing for an additional upstairs bedroom which is occasionally available should you need an extra bedroom for a larger party. At other times this upstairs room is rented longer term to visiting Swarthmore faculty or occasionally summer Swarthmore research students. See the link in my profile for pictures - if interested this room can be arranged via a "special offer".
Throughout your stay, you will have access to a number of beautiful shared spaces in my home. These include the living room with working fireplace, dining room, upstairs library, the kitchen with a gas stove, a large outdoor deck with adirondack chairs and outdoor dining chairs, grassy yard with a picnic table looking out over a protected open wooded area.
I tend to work long hours at the theater, and will usually only be around in the evenings. I give my guests their space, but should our schedules and inclinations overlap, I enjoy getting to know my guests and possibly share an occasional meal. I'm happy to help you get oriented throughout your stay, recommend local restaurants, walks in the woods or perhaps even a local theater production.
I live here with two beloved indoor-outdoor cats (Finn and Archie) and well-behaved labrador retriever, Reg. As such, it is important that my guests are comfortable with and kind to the animals. Reg goes to work with me everyday and so will likely only be around in the evenings. The cats are indoor-outdoor, though I try to keep them inside after about 8pm. They love company and to snuggle, but are also used to being closed out of the bedrooms, should you prefer your sleeping quarters cat-free!
- Must be comfortable with cats and well-behaved dog
- Dog must not be let out the front door
I have lived in the Swarthmore area all my life and work as the Artistic Director and CEO of The People’s Light & Theatre Company in neighboring Malvern, PA. During my 40 year association with the Theatre, I have directed more than sixty plays. I also served for ten years on the faculty of Swarthmore College and have taught at New York University, Bryn Mawr College, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario.
My home here in Swarthmore is a haven for my happy dog Reg, warm fires, conversations with friends, old and new, and walks in the neighboring Crum Woods. Hosting gives me the opportunity to meet new people, and I enjoy the energy it brings to this wonderful space.
