Bank Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone property, built in the 1880s, which sits on a quiet village lane that runs alongside the River Coln. This large, detached property is located in a small, pretty hamlet a mile away from the heart of the popular Cotswold village of Bibury, once described as "the most beautiful village in England". The views from the cottage and its elevated garden are stunning and the surrounding countryside is a haven for nature lovers, with lots of space, walking routes, and wildlife. Bank Cottage is ideally located for exploring the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Bath, Blenheim Palace, and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Bank cottage is accessed via a private driveway, which leads to a gravelled parking area at the end of the cottage, with space for several cars. There is a paved terrace at the front of the property, with a wooden bench. The front door opens into a hallway, off which are the following ground floor rooms:
Living room: A beautiful cosy room, which takes advantage of the lovely views from its windows. With stunning style and furnishings, the room contains a large inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, two large comfortable sofas and a chair, a flatscreen TV with DVD player and a Bluetooth sound player, as well as board games and books;
Kitchen/breakfast room: A light and well-proportioned room, with beautiful open countryside views, which is equipped with an electric range cooker, a six ring induction hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, food processor, and a combined washing machine/tumble dryer. There is also a lovely large breakfast table with four comfortable chairs;
Dining room: Double doors lead from the kitchen into another well-proportioned room, again with stunning views. Sumptuously furnished and decorated, the room contains a large wooden dining table, with comfortable seating for eight and an Emma Bridgewater dinner set. A door leads out from the dining room to the side of the cottage;
Cloakroom: contains a toilet and wash basin.
Stairs lead up from the hallway to the first floor landing, leading to the following rooms:
Master bedroom: A large, beautifully decorated room, with exposed oak beams and stunning views of the countryside, which contains a super king size bed, a separate area with a washbasin, and a built-in closet;
Bedroom 2: As with all the bedrooms, this room has lovely views, and contains a king size bed and exposed oak beams. A door from bedroom 2 provides internal access to bedroom 3;
Bedroom 3: Accessed internally via bedroom 2, or from outside via an external door into the ensuite bathroom, this bedroom contains a super king size bed. The luxurious ensuite bathroom contains a roll-top bath with hand-held shower attachment, wash basin and toilet;
Family bathroom: A beautiful room, which contains a roll top bath, walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin.
Stairs lead up from the first floor landing to the second floor:
Bedroom 4: A beautiful eaves room, with exposed oak beams and lovely views of the river, which contains a king size bed.
Steps rise up behind the property to give access to the large elevated garden, which has spectacular views of the open countryside, and is mostly laid to lawn and surrounded at the back and sides by mature trees and bushes. There is a decked seating area with a table and a lounge set that seats eight people, plus a charcoal barbecue.

The Cotswolds is a rural location and whilst there is access to public transport, it is highly recommended that you have a car.
Instant booking restrictions
This property is instantly bookable, subject to the following restrictions:
Short breaks: We can only accept breaks less than a week long that start on a Friday or Monday;
Weeks: We can only accept week long bookings commencing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Friday and Monday are the preferred options;
Special events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day;
Short notice bookings: For bookings commencing within 7 days of the booking date, we have to seek confirmation from the property owner that they can accept the booking, before it can be accepted.
In addition to Airbnb’s terms and conditions, any bookings made for this property are made on the basis that you agree to the Booking Conditions set out on the Character Cottages website. Please type “Character Cottages Booking Conditions” into your search engine to find and review these conditions.
A security deposit of £250 is payable, which is returned after the letting period, subject to an inspection of the property. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival. In the event that the owners, or their appointed housekeepers, have to spend additional time tidying up after your departure, then the cost of this extra time may be deducted from your security deposit.
The maximum occupancy of the property, including its grounds, is 8 guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than 8 guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant.
Regrettably, pets are not accepted.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Heating, fuel and logs
The property has an oil fired central heating system.
Electricity and oil are included in the rental price. An initial basket of logs is provided for the wood burning stove and further log supplies can be purchased locally.
The property has free wireless internet access, a Freeview TV with DVD player, and a Bluetooth sound player. A telephone is also provided, with an honesty box for the cost of calls made (there is a bar on international calls).
Mobile phone reception is variable, typically being better in the garden than inside the property.
There is off street parking space for four cars at the side of the property.
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen) and high chair are provided. A stair gate is also available upon request.
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This property has many character features including some low exposed beams in the attic bedroom, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency. The property is built into the hillside and has some relatively steep inclines in the garden and from the road up to the front door of the cottage. The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
No smoking is permitted throughout the property.
Hen and Stag Parties
Hen and Stag Parties are not permitted.
