Come stay in our shipping container castle!
Parked in front of our warehouse, you'll enjoy access to common areas inside, wifi, and a garden to hang out in.
Plan to take a VERY guck shower, hope that that the renter has actually drained the tank, or your feet will be in a pool by the end of your first, and third, and fifth shower. Bring your own fan and blankets, there is no fan and the blanket he provides has been washed well past it's prime. The bathroom uses an RV toilet, so if you don't like the smell of feces perhaps bring a nose plug. Won't be returning.
This place is really close to a lot of the cool stuff in Oakland. The neighborhood may not be comfortable for people to walk around. But your locked/gated yard is totally safe. It's in front of a warehouse with a few cool people doing interesting things. And you're a short car/uber/lyft to Telegraph and all the fun stuff there. Luke is a gracious host. The container looks exactly like the pictures (even better, it's in a private yard, rather than out on the street). We really enjoyed our stay. The next time we want to be near downtown Oakland, this is a good choice.
So Luke and his colleagues who also live as a community are doing something that can change the living in the expensive bay area, he is turning container shipments into livable housing, the one we stayed in was very nice, clean, innovative. It has a built sink, shower, and toilet. Nice size bed and lights, fan, and windows that are controlled by a tablet. I would most definitely come back here, yes the area may seem to be sketchy but the containers are in a secured gates compound. Luke and his colleagues were inviting and informative!
I really liked Luke's place it was quite and private. Luke was a great host. I thought it was a great value and i loved being in the middle of Oakland culture. This place is for people who like inter city artist culture. It looks interested pulling up but i felt very safe once settled in. It's for people who are looking for a private peaceful place to crash. It's comfortable but very basic. I would stay again.
