Quinta Escondida is a traditional Algarvian building in a wonderfully peaceful setting with super countryside views.
Refurbished in the '70's it has been sympathetically maintained since, and brought up to date with an internet connection with WiFi .
With many discrete areas in the house and grounds, 8 people can easily find their own personal space.
Good roads are to be found in all directions and the airport of Faro is only 25 minutes away. The whole of the Algarve is easily within reach.
Set at the top of 2,000 square metres of walled garden, Quinta Escondida is a traditional Algarvian (farmhouse) building with its own secluded twelve metre swimming pool and sun-drenched terraces. Sympathetically maintained since its update in the '70's it has welcomed a few more modern touches both inside and out, including a partially landscaped garden with a few covered walkways, the outdoor pool with extensive patios and communal areas and more recently, a strong internet connection with WiFi coverage for those who lead a more modern lifestyle.
The spur from the top of the lane is exclusively for access to the property, making one feel somewhat separated from civilisation even before passing through the gateway at the bottom of the grounds.
On the rise to the house under the canopy of several mature trees, the wall at the eastern edge can just be seen behind the light foliage at the other side of the spacious open ground that constitutes the lower half of the garden.
Parking on the gravel in front of the garages the semi-circular covered barbecue area looms up towards the right and around it leads the path to the house.
Typically, the building has several entrances along the southern exposure, which all meet inside ultimately. The first one that comes into view allows entry to the neatly compact and fully equipped kitchen, which leads to a useful indoor eating/work room which is followed by the spacious communal room, with its own patio entrance and four-metre high roof.
The elegant balcony along the rear wall leads to the 'master' sleeping quarters with its sea view and en-suite facilities, and half-way up the tiled, curved stairs is the 'mezzanine' sleeping quarters - complete with traditional bread oven in one wall and access to the rear patio and roof-top terrace through another.
A solid wooden door from the communal room leads off to the last two bedrooms, with a choice of bathrooms, all connected by a tiled, curved passageway, at the end of which plenty of storage space is available.
The 'twins' quarters has two single beds and an adjacent patio exit, and the 'patio' quarters features a giant bed and access straight out to the terrace above the pool.
The entire southern-facing edge of the building features a 'Santa Catarina'-tiled terrace, which extends down and around the 12m pool along the eastern wall. There is a solid-structured gazebo by the pool with lighting for those late evening al-fresco meals and electric points for charging personal devices. During the day, this area provides protection for the sun and allows views across the garden and patio.
To the rear, the alternative discrete patio area is serviced by an additional external barbecue and the rooftop terrace offers views across the countryside and towards the sea beyond Quarteira.
Apart from my separate annexe, the garage is used exclusively to store the house/garden maintenance equipment and some of the storage cupboards in the quarters are sealed shut. Otherwise, the entire house and grounds are exclusively for the use of the guests.
When occupied by guests Quinta Escondida is quietly managed by me every morning from 7am (usually for less than an hour) when the pool water level and condition is checked and the irrigation systems are run and monitored. Apart from the odd occasion when you might see my car as I leave or return, you won't be disturbed at all during your stay.
If you should have any questions or concerns, I have lived in the area since 2004, and am very happy to offer what knowledge I have acquired about the locale as well as being ideally placed to offer any immediate support with the house.
This listing is strictly self-catering - guests are responsible for the supply of all foodstuffs and personal items.
