Five minutes walk will take you to a private beach entrance. At night, you'll fall asleep to the sounds of the seasonal fog-horn, the forest, the wind, and the rain. Whales can be seen from the deck. Hummingbirds flutter about, guarding their feeder, and wild bunnies dash around below. Seagulls, Bald Eagles, and other birds glide overhead, and at night you can enjoy stargazing and the occasional silhouette of a bat crossing before the moon. This is a great place to feel close to nature.
My house is close to private beach entrances, and has two black cats (who will hide from or ignore you) and a Jack Russell Terrier who dearly wants to be your friend. It's near the end of a dead-end street, nestled into a quiet, coastal forest. Five minutes' walk will put you on a typically empty beach. Ten minutes drive will get you to fine dining, art galleries, the Newport Aquarium, and everything else great about Newport.
Achilles ("the Brave") is extremely shy, and the dog is a little crazy about other dogs, so absolutely no pets should come here, nor anyone looking for a loud party-type scene. This is a good place, however, for couples, families with children who know how to behave around pets, or solo travelers. The main room has a private bathroom. If you are bringing kids or friends, just list the number of people coming so I'll know you're taking the room with the bunk beds. Both of these bedrooms feature forest views.
There is an ample deck, which you're welcome to enjoy, as well as a den downstairs, in which you'll mostly be left alone (there's no controlling cats).
If you're planning on using both bedrooms for two people, please click the button to say that three people are coming. The single-room, two adult rate is for people using just one room.
You can use the downstairs bedrooms, the den, the upstairs living room, both bathrooms, the deck, and the ample kitchen - basically everything except the garage and my bedroom. There are two fireplaces, too, so it'll be cozy all through the winter.
Yes, I'll be working from home, unless I'm in town, in which case my boyfriend can help you.
This is a quiet little neighborhood. Nothing happens here: it's extremely safe. There is no lock on any of the bedroom doors. That's a thing I've seen in Portland that just isn't necessary here. There are kites that you can use!
