The Bakoni Hide-Away, Schoemanskloof

The Bakoni Hide-Away is an off-the-grid retreat, ideal for a romantic getaway for lovers of the African bush. Unfenced, it is set on a remote spot on the side of a mountain with abundant birdlife, buck and other game around. The design was inspired by the many stone circles that occur in this region and the Bakoni people who are believed to have roamed the area in the past. It is ideal for couples and 2 older children can be accommodated on the mezzanine floor if privacy is not a requirement.

Take it easy at this unique, tranquil off-grid getaway. The secluded and private Stone Cottage is nestled among lush indigenous trees and next to an irrigation canal. Thatched and built from stone, the cottage offers stunning views into a verdant garden and over a farm dam. Everything on the property, from the food we grow to how we live, and generate electricity, is based on being environmentally sustainable. South Africa's leading lithography studio, The Artists' Press, is also located here.

Nestled amongst the pristine granite outcrops of the Lowveld, almost invisible to the eye, it is a true architectural gem. It has a lounge area, indoor fireplace, patio gas grill, well-equipped kitchen and decks with breathtaking views. The bedroom and en-suite bathroom, as well as a secluded jetted bath, are situated on lower decks.

Guests can do bass or trout fishing at the dams, Game drives, bird watching, cycling or just enjoy the stunning view from the house of the country site. There is full cellphone reception at the house. a High rise vehicle is recommended and a 4x4 when wet.
