Birgir's cabin is very snug & warm -- festive with bright red lights -- everything in its nook -- and an amazing perch to see across the valley & short drive to the fjord. Our trip was at the end of December and most days/nights were snowy & with some rain -- very beautiful, but definitely take heed of Birgir's cautions about driving in such weather (which held true, even as we had rented a 4-wheel drive Jeep!) -- it is a steep hill up to the cabin, and we did get stuck on our 2nd to last day -- but fortunately the neighbors in the house down the way were incredibly helpful & we got the car out! We enjoyed exploring Akranes & Borganes. We also did see the northern lights on the one clear night -- beautiful to see the green shimmering curtain of light above the steppes/mountains across the valley. Birgir was both proactive and very responsive.

Just as described! Krista was very helpful with recommendations and directions. Plenty of space and great living and dining room. Views are amazing. The hot tub was amazing, definitely try after a long day of hikes!

We had an incredible stay at this cabin! The views were absolutely stunning—like something out of a postcard. The host was super helpful and gave us some great local recommendations, including horseback riding at Laxnes Horse Farm and a visit to Hvammsvík Hot Springs, which was just a 30-minute drive away. We also went snorkeling at the Silfra Fissure, another unforgettable experience not too far from the cabin. The location is very peaceful and secluded, so we’d definitely recommend picking up groceries ahead of time and enjoying meals at the house. The hot tub was a huge highlight—perfect for soaking under the stars! A couple things to note: there isn’t a microwave, which would’ve been a helpful addition, and the hot water had that classic Icelandic sulfur smell, which took some getting used to. Still, this place was an easy 5/5. We’d absolutely stay here again!

Excellent little cabin! It’s really nice to find a well appointed place in Iceland. Perfectly situated across the fjord from Hvammsvik. I’ve been traveling to Iceland for over 20 years, and a lot of places are just so-so. Not this one. Stocked fridge, espresso machine, lots of nice touches. Left me wanting for nothing. Selfishly, I should probably tell you all that it’s a terrible place and keep this one as my little secret, but that wouldn’t be fair to the host, who was most gracious. Excellent place, well done, and I will return.

Great spot for our basecamp exploring Pingvellir and fishing the area lakes. Enjoyed the hot tub after long days out exploring. Saw the northern lights. Cozy cabin. Very comfortable bed. Private location despite being close to the circle road.

Wir waren sehr glücklich mit unserem kleinen Urlaub in Andreas sehr gemütlichen und sehr schönen Haus. Alles funktionierte einwandfrei und sie hatte dankenswerterweise alles Notwendige für die ersten zwei Tage bereitgestellt, so dass wir in Ruhe ankommen konnten. Wir haben Ruhe und Erholung gesucht und genossen. Das Haus lag für uns genau richtig, um Ausflüge in den Norden und nach Reykjavik zu machen, die unmittelbare Umgebung ist magisch schön, um viel Zeit draußen zu verbringen oder die Aussicht von der Terrasse oder dem Wohnzimmer zu genießen. Andrea war sehr nett und gut erreichbar. Wir werden uns immer an die schönen Tage erinnern und können das Haus uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Man spürt, dass es mit Liebe errichtet und eingerichtet wurde und es fällt leicht, es mit Respekt zu behandeln.

The cottage is located in a quiet and isolated area but still within short traveling distance to prime tourist spots. Our hosts were very quick to answer our questions and accommodating to our specific needs. I would recommend this Airbnb!

This is a lovely, cosy away from it all cottage. The drive along the whale fjord to get there is just stunning, one night we stopped the car to enjoy the northern lights. There are numerous lakes and waterfalls nearby too. The cottage is warm, cute & friendly, calming interior-the fire place adds to the feeling of relaxation, the two bedrooms are very comfortable. The couch/ fire/ view combination is fabulous. The host supplied plenty of linen, towels and other basics, very much appreciated considering how expensive Iceland is to visit.

Beautiful place we were able to see great northern lights while there

Tumi was extremely helpful the entire experience, offering more than what was even offered on the listing. We seriously appreciate all the effort that was made to make our last day in Iceland as easy and stress free as possible. If I had to say one thing, it is that the location of this rental is a bit confusing to get to. Offering slightly better instructions would be extremely helpful, but overall was a perfect distance from the airport and offered everything needed for an affordable stay - plus a hot tub!

The house was just perfect for us. It is nestled in quiet scenic area that is a short drive to the main sites. The house was lovely and warm. The sulphur smell when showering was a shock initially, but something we got used to very quickly. It even snowed while we were there. A special treat for the kids. If you stay here, don't forget to visit the Fontana Spa down the road. Check in was incredibly easy and all of the instructions were simple to follow. You will have to drive down the road to dispose of your rubbish at the communal waste facility. The house very much reminded me of Centre Parcs.

This was a nice cozy cabin with a hot tub and good location near Thingvellir and other ring road attractions (geysir, gullfoss, etc). Very private, and nice yard, though despite their being ~5-6 sleeping spots, the cabin itself was likely too small for that many (we had 3 and that was about the most I’d recommend). Host was very responsive and helpful. For those traveling the ring road, this is a great spot to have in the itinerary!

Sígrun’s place was exactly what we were looking for! We had the best welcome ever being greeted by the northern lights. The house is well equipped with everything you need. From kitchen appliances to toiletries. And the hot tub outside, is an excellent place to relax. Location is perfect. Very nice and quiet and also close to all the main attractions of the golden circle. Our farewell was also memorable with northern lights dancing for us! Some places we’d like to recommend: Sky Lagoon, Thingvellir National park (20 min drive from the house, bring good shoes, can be very slippery). Tryggvaskali restaurant, Messinn restaurant, Silfra restaurant. And of course all the other attractions around the golden circle. Thank you, Sigrún, hope to be back soon!

Frederikke byla velice milá a pozorná,vše dobře popsala. V chatě jsme se cítili jako doma,mohli jsme použít hot pot,který nám majitelka nastavila na požadovanou teplotu. Všude bylo čisto. Děkujeme.

Loved this spot! A great location to explore just to the east of Reykjavik. Sauna was fantastic. Place was modern and clean and all you need. Host was communicative.

I've stayed at hundreds of airbnbs and I can tell you you will not find a better host. Stefanie truly looks out for you. She texted me when a storm was coming so I was prepared and not on the roads. She asked how I was doing. It was very clear if I needed anything she was there and that meant so much to me. Her place is such a sanctuary! So cozy and hygge. Highly recommend.

The Jon’s place was more than we expected. It located in a peaceful valley with a beautiful view and waterfalls next to it. The lodge was clean, spacious and well insulated even the strong wind blowing sometimes. We enjoyed many hiking places nearby and came back to this cosy accommodation to relax. Jon is a wonderful host with quick responses. We had a fantastic holiday!

Two adults and one child vacationing in this valley of paradise not far from Reykjavik! The setup was ideal and we all felt right at home. It was so comfortable, warm and we loved the added bonus of the hot tub!! We had a car rental and did our own touring of the southwest including the golden circle of our own. Highly recommend this lovely cabin!!

Wir hatten eine so schöne Zeit in Haukurs Unterkunft. Die Hütte ist mit allem ausgestattet was man so braucht, sehr gemütlich und traumhaft ruhig gelegen mitten in der Natur. Der Blick auf den See, der Kamin und der Hot Tub waren unser Highlight. Perfekt um so richtig zu entspannen. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

We had such a lovely time at Zoei’s garden. One of the coziest places we’ve ever stayed in! The geothermal hot tub was so nice to relax in and take in the beautiful surroundings. The house has everything you need and more. Very family friendly. If we are being honest, Godo (the cat) was our favorite part of our entire stay. He was the sweetest cat we’ve ever met and I think we’d travel all the way back to Iceland just to see him again! ♥️ The house is in the perfect location to travel to Reykjavik or the snæsfellsness peninsula and anywhere inbetween. Zoei was an incredible host - super responsive and always available to answer any questions we had! Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home with us! We will be back!

We had a great stay at this location. It is about 30 min from Reykjavik which was not a problem for us at all. It is located in a super quiet area literally right next to a lake. We are a family of 4, so we used all three bedrooms which as great for us. It is not a large cabin, but we spent so little time at the cabin that it did not bother us at all. We used the Hot tub in the back yard every day and enjoyed the view over the lake and mountains. It is close to a number of hiking trails and waterfalls, and it was exactly what we had hoped for. The host is AMAZING, by far the most responsive host we have ever had, and offered super good information for trips, shopping etc. We ended our trip by watching the Northern Lights right from our back yard patio. I would recommend this to anyone looking for nature, hikes and amazing views.

We had a great time at the cabin! Actually, one of the highlights was our host Ylfa, who was always very helpful, provided a lot of very detailed information up front and reacted very quickly to all remaining questions we had - the communication was really a pleasure to us and on a level I have not experienced on Airbnb before. About the cabin: Our kids (3 and 6 years old) very much liked what they referred to as "the play cave", which is the upstairs sleeping loft. The kitchen is well equipped with all necessary things needed, far exceeding what would be minimal kitchen setup. Another highlight to us was the hot tub, which we used almost every day (despite wind and a bit of rain outside). The open view towards the west is very suitable to search for Northern Lights in the dark or just watch the stars. We mainly used the cabin as our homebase to different day tours around in western Iceland. In total, we really had a great time!
