Despite accolades from esteemed international design and travel publications (which it has from Monocle, Dwell, Travel + Leisure and many more), this perfectly designed and laid out home isn’t about pomp; it’s about simplicity and reliance upon the natural environment that surrounds it. That was the point when it, and a handful of others, were built in the mid 1960’s to showcase Northern California’s famed Sea Ranch project —and the way humans might one day find a better way to live with nature.

Cozy Redwood Cottage Near the Mendocino Coast

Our peaceful cottage is nestled among the redwoods, a few miles inland from the Mendocino Coast. High ceilings and skylights make this space feel spacious, offering natural light, and views of the majestic trees. The surrounding community is special, with many residents having lived here for decades, tending their homesteads. On your way in, you are likely to see cattle, horses, pigs, and chickens. Deer, coyote, foxes, mountain lions, owls, hawks, vultures, and bears also frequent the area.

Besides a full bathroom the cabin features an outdoor shower and the well appointed kitchen even has a dishwasher. Our newest addition: extra office with the peace and privacy for 100% efficiency.

Historic Baker House available for the first time

As seen in Dwell, Turnbull's Baker House is a Sea Ranch classic Binker Barn resting on 2 acres of redwoods. While it was built in 1968, it's been updated to make sure you have everything you need for a private and relaxing stay: the separate office has monitors and 300+ Mbps internet, the kitchen is fully-equipped, and the garage has a level 2 EV charger and a Peloton. Enjoy the outdoors year-round from the hot tub or the Galanter & Jones heated furniture that overlooks the forest and ocean.

The Navarro House is situated on the Mendocino coast with an unobstructed view where the Navarro River reaches the Pacific Ocean. Conveniently located 15 minutes south of Mendocino, this property offers privacy with space to spread out between the houses. The hot tub and BBQ/ Fire pit area is shared with the guest house which sits below. This is a place to reflect, relax and recharge. Well behaved pets welcome! 240 and 140V plugs available in driveway - bring your own plug for car charging.

At the Hidden Valley Hideout, we invite you to put your worries aside and enjoy the tranquility that the giant redwoods surrounding the property create. Friends and families will love the open floorplan and indoor/ outdoor feel that this cottage in the woods provides. In the winter, enjoy a beautiful moving creek that flows through the property whilst fighting the morning chill away with a warm cup of coffee on the deck. Still feeling cold? Surrounded by 4 acres and neighboring the Wildlands Conservancy, the property is calm, quiet, and a great place to take in the beauty of the Sonoma Coast.
