The Art of tea ceremony is an ancient form of meditation, it is an accessible everyday practice to enhance clarity and increase happiness. Classes are tailored for all levels of student from introductory to advanced. We will unveil the mystique of tea culture – exploring historical, philosophical and ceremonial elements. We will also cover tea basics – varieties, regions, processing, utensils, and health benefits. You will take with you a greater understanding of traditional tea culture and the tools to create your own tea ceremony for daily life.
Tea Mistress has been studying tea and practicing Gongfu (Chinese) tea ceremony since 2000. She has auspiciously travelled through many of the world’s celebrated tea regions to study with tea masters and procure exquisite teas. She is a partner in Jade Spring Teas, the official teashop for the Journal of Chinese Medicine, and performs a contemporary version of tea ceremony - a memorable performance being in Chinese Architect Li Xiaodong’s installation at the Royal Academy of the Arts exhibition Sensing Spaces.
There will be a decadent yet small selection of tea pairing delights.
We will taste a selection of exquisite traditionally hand crafted and organic teas.
Classes take place in a stunning Japanese style tea house perched on a cliff over looking Ruckle Park and the Georgia Straight.
The class is around 2 hours, it will be relaxed and fun. The tea house is located at the top of a flight of rock stairs.
