During the workshop you will be guided through the process of Letterpress. You will start by setting a text and designing the layout for your poster or card. Next you will choose the right paper to print on and mix ink in the colour of your choosing. Then it's time tot print. The printing presses will do the work but you need to operate them yourself, by hand, like it was done in the old days. It's so much fun seeing your prints come out after you put the paper in the press and roll the big cilinder over the inky letters. You can print as many posters or cards as you like and maybe we can even do a second colour. At the end of the workshop you will take home your prints in an envelope.
My name is Rozemarijn Oudejans and I'm designer and letterpress printer in Tilburg, The Netherlands. I work from my own studio, Studio Zeedauw, where I print birth announcements, marriage invites, posters and all kinds of stationary. I'm passionate about letterpress and love sharing my knowledge and experience with others. It's so much fun, printing your own posters and cards: setting the text, mixing the ink, choosing the paper and operating the old printing presses. So come on and get your hands dirty, I promise it will be a great experience!
