Arrive at the venue from where the ride will start, Dullstroom on the Dam. Get briefed on the extent of the trail, safety precautions. Riders will be assessed and horses and riders paired. The trail accross the dam wall and up the mountain takes around 50 minutes. Right at the top of the Suikerboschkop mountain, riders dismount and enjoy a refreshment. The ride continues passing the memorial and gravesites of soldiers from the Anglo-Boer war and back down the mountain to the start/finish. Here are facilities to relax and reminisce.
I have a passion for horses, love riding, competing and exploring nature on horseback. I have taught beginers and experienced riders for 15 years. I am passionate about Dullstroom and it's natural beauty and would love to share this breathtaking setting and experience with guests. I have also run programs of physical development on horses. I love interacting with people and getting to know them, encouraging them to be confident and enjoy their riding experience.

The trail takes place on a resort/nature reserve. The start finish has facilities including a lounge are and coffee shop. The vantage point is not accessible by car but only by hiking, other than on horseback. The memorial/ gravesite is a significant tourist attraction which is not accessible to tourists without being taken there.
Our Horse Riding guide was non-communicative. The horse experience was really good and the route we followed was fantastic, but the guide could have engaged with her clients far better. She could not even get our names correct when talking to us. A better guide would have made the experience so much better!

Definitely one of our highlights in Dullstroom! The horses are beautiful and even for a beginner like me it was easy to get the hang of it. Alwin and Ilanthe are kind, patient, very friendly and have a beautiful bond with the horses. Expect beautiful views of the area with a sherry or coffee at the top of the hill. I would definitely make this a must-do when visiting Dullstroom.
