Learn the art of capturing the Majesty of the Milky Way! The first time you see the Milky Way on the back of your camera on a clear night, it's truly an exhilarating experience! If you love outdoor photography and want to expand your photographic skills - this workshop is for you! Beginner to Advanced photographers will benefit. We will focus on wide-field astrophotography, which can best be described as landscape photography in the dark, with an emphasis on capturing brilliant Milky Way images using wide-angle lenses. What You’ll Learn: The best times to photograph the Milky Way How to find the best dark sky location Best equipment to use How to focus in the dark How to set exposure and ISO Rule of 500 Identifying other lights in the night sky This workshop will give you the building blocks for photographing the night sky, location planning, best equipment to use and much more. Basic Itinerary : We will meet in the early evening for 2 hours of classroom instruction about gear, techniques and an equipment review. Hello, I am a well-seasoned professional business owner of Image 10 Photographic, photographer and instructor who is passionate about all things photographable. My photography is a collaboration of astrophotography, cityscapes, abstracts, landscapes, sunrises and sunsets. I am a global traveller and have taught numerous photography workshops throughout the US. Time is a precious commodity for all of us, so whenever you can engage with your surroundings especially under the majesty of the galactic grandeur of the Milky Way and enjoy the “recharge” that outdoor photography can provide – I highly recommend it.

Eleven Mile State Park is an excellent place to learn about and enjoy the wonders of the night sky. Located 1 hour's drive west of Colorado Springs, Eleven Mile State Park is easily accessible yet far enough away from light pollution to provide dark, star-filled skies. From the park, it is possible to see the Milky Way, other galaxies, star clusters, nebulae, planets, comets, and much more.
